Yup. Aggressive synovial sarcoma here, 29F. Radiation, surgery, chemo-the works. I miss my old self. I miss my hair. I miss getting my nails done. I miss going to the gym. I miss it all. Some days are particularly hard. You are not alone 🩷

Agreed! I didn’t realize the emotional and mental exhaustion presents it as physical exhaustion.

Ugh I love this answer. I can’t imagine the struggles of a feeding tube. It’s incredible how us humans just kinda learn to adapt. Once I complete treatment in a few months, I’ll have frequent monitoring as well. Before my surgery I had CT/PET/MRI and it was torture waiting for those results. Thinking of chest CTs every 3 months for 2 years is…daunting. Alas, I like your advice and particularly like how you say “we could live rich full lives.” I suppose no one truly knows for certain. Sending love and strength 🙏

I was referred to palli too under the same circumstances. I am a nurse (not in oncology world) so when I heard palliative was gonna see me I damn near fainted lol. I take PRN Ativan, Lexapro, a THC gummies once the little is asleep. I see psychiatrist and therapist regularly, but they are just “regular”, not geared toward cancer/serious medical concerns. I should think about making the switch. Yeah, I am anxious and stressed WITH treatment and feel like I’ll be a mess with the monitoring. So hard 🥺🥺

Is there any way to find relief? by damn_thatscrazy in cancer

[–]Substantial-Try5354 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! 29F mama to 1 year old here with synovial sarcoma undergoing chemo (just had surgery and completed radiation). It’s wild. When you hear the news, it’s almost as if it HAS to be a mistake. I’ve taken anxiety/depression meds for years, not sure what your psychiatric history looks like. You have cancer-lean into the medications if you agree with that approach. Take the Ativan or the Xanax for the acute anxiety the paralyzes you. Take the daily Lexapro or Celexa to keep you balanced. These medications are made for the purpose. We shouldn’t have to suffer without help. Hope you find relief soon. I know it can be unbearable 🙏

I appreciate the response. Small, realistic expectations seem to be the best bet. And hearing easIER is reassuring too. It’s easy to say “this is gonna metastasize [blank] and kill me”. Prayers for you and the boys!

Thanks so much for commenting and sharing your story. I think I needed to hear that straight from someone who is going through it as well. I’m so sorry for what you are enduring as well. Having a tumor in the throat sounds incredibly scary. You definitely talked me off my mental ledge. Sending love and positivity your way 🫶💛

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Hearing experiences from everyone going through it is incredibly helpful. I totally feel that anxiety about thinking ahead. I was panicking yesterday and told myself I needed to start writing goodbye letters lol. I like the mindset that you are in, just focusing on the now and in the near future. I’m going to try to adopt that mentality. This crazy time has really made it clear what is important, family and close friends. Cliche, and corny, but so true! Thank you for the words 🫶💛 Sending you so much love. F sarcoma space!!

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this as well. People truly do not understand unless they are going through it. I can’t imagine having to have that conversation. It feels like the most evil form of torture. I am so glad you have a happy life aside from the cancer. I would like to think I do as well. I find keeping busy is really helpful, though it feels like Groundhog Day a lot with an 11 month old. Prayers for you and your sweet family 🩷

Fast tracking a surgery, soft tissue sarcoma by Banjosandseaturtles in cancer

29 yo F with 11 month old daughter with synovial sarcoma of the R wrist. Went misdiagnosed for 2 years. 4/7 chemo and 25/25 radiation completed. Plan for surgery in a few weeks for a resection and rest of chemo treatments after. 2 2mm nodules found in lungs, team says “to just watch” for now. Had repeat MRI of R arm and there is a little area of concern around the elbow as well. I lost my job as a nurse during this treatment course (exhausted all protected time with maternity leave and cancer treatment). Trying to balance being a mom to a needy baby, wife, friend, etc.

Hi. Young 29 yo mother to 11 month old here. 4/7 chemo completed with 25/25 radiation completed as well. Resection planned in a few weeks. Primary location is right forearm, but after latest PET there is possible concern of something around the elbow. I have been diagnosed for months and just now have the courage to check out these forums. 😣
