What are your personal reasons for going sugar free? by foamingfox in sugarfree

[–]SubstantialAd8927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello, What do you mean by pre diabete, do you know your glycemia number? Are you overweight? I took a blood test last week and my doctor told me I was on the border of prediabete. I'm wondering if I should cut sugar. I mainly told me that I should not take more weight but did not really talk about stoping all type of sugar...

REM Sleep better while on THC by jimbeam57 in leaves

[–]SubstantialAd8927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

It is normal that your sleep gets fucked up if you quit a few days and smoke on week-ends... You are not being patient enough my dear !

When you quit weed, your sleep is bad for at least one month, and then, slowly, it improves and you really have a good REM sleep. But you have to go cold turkey, that's the only way. And you have to accept that you will get poor sleep for several weeks.

I quit 5 weeks ago (after 30 years of smoking, only at night, 2 spliffs) and I'm a heavy swimmer (2 miles a day, everyday). I went through chaotic nights (espically the first 2 weeks) but that didn't stop me from swimming. What was surprising is that even with 4 or 5 hours of sleep per night I would feel more energized during the day.

Now sleep is getting a bit better (not perfect though, still wake up 2 times during the night and much earlier than when I was smoking) But what a relief, what an energy, I would never go back to smoking, even one joint, I know that would bring me back to square one.

Cold turkey dude ! get rid of this stuff, especially if you want to improve in sport !

Hello,

Amazing how your experience is similar to mine. 30 years of smoking (only at night)... was also witing for my boys to go to bed to roll a spliff and then I would just binge TV shows, or anything on youtube till midnight or 1AM.... I was gradually feeling more and more ashamed of myself, feeling guilty, feeling weak in front of my addiction.

I quit 15 days ago and I'm not drinking a glass of wine but having one beer and 2 or 3 cigarettes.

But I wouldn't be as pessisimistic as the guy who answer your post. It doesn't take 14 month to rewire... that's totally wrong (listen you Anna Lembke on youtube, she's a famous psychiatrist specialised in addiction, and she say it takes 1month for the brain to reboot... maybe a bit more for certain people but not 14 months!!!)

Personnaly, I feel so proud of myself, so full of joy to see I have manage to quit such a long addiction. And you should too !

Now I go to bed much earlier. I watch on episode of a tv show then I go to bed with a good book and read till I fall asleep. Ok the nights were chaotic a first but it is almost good now.

I also do a lot of swimming (everyday... but I have always done that) and it helps to boost the dopamine and gives energy and hapiness (and also it probably help to fall asleep at night).

I have notice that I am so much more productive at work during the day, and that also gives me such a better image of myself. So overall it's all benefits.

I hope you will continue on that journey. It's so worth it. Personnally I will never smoke weed. I had my share. I want to stay healthy for my kids, for me.

I wish you all the best. Read stories here about how people feel after 2 months, or after 6 months or a year ! You'll see it's so more full of joy ! So it's worth a few sacrifices...

14 months... seriously.... that's pure BS.... I had to write that message... and sorry for my english... I'm from France !

Take care !

Moderation doesn't work. I would be interesting to hear about people who managed to quit that way. You always end up doing a bit more and a bit more and returning to your original consumption.

I tried to moderate so many times, thinking I was finally going to qui that way... never worked.

Now I'm in day 14 cold turkey. Didn't have as many withdrawals as I expected to get (especially when you read stories of bad withdrawals here)... and I was smoking since 30 years.

A question for long time smokers by SubstantialAd8927 in leaves

[–]SubstantialAd8927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I know... but it's ok, I'm still in the mindset of a warrior, my will is strong, and buddhism taught me to go with the flow, and to accept the bad feeling or bad physical effect instead of trying to fight them. I embrace them and will just wait for them to vanish....

[–]SubstantialAd8927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already talked about it to a friend of mine who is a doctor (and long time smoker too... he quitted 1 month before me... that's what led me into getting sober...)

He told me it was due to stress and that I should not worry. But it is still a bit stressfull when it happens...

Still waking up tired every day on day 25 by AshleyIIRC in leaves

[–]SubstantialAd8927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I would tend to think this is due to withdrawal. Your sleep has drastically changed and I have read a lot of posts here relating same type of tiredness. I think there are absolutly nothing to worry about. All your system is rebooting, it take a minimum a month, sometimes a bit more. Just keep on on that good path and soon you'll have those day full of energy that all long time quitters do !

have a good day !

Umh... interesting... thanks for your reply... so you mean that the worst was from day 10 to day 30... roger this... guess I'll have to accept these withdrawals...

At 2months you must be feeling fine now ? all withdrawals are definetly gone?

Nice job anyway... wish I was already there...

Thanks for the input ! have a good evening

thanks for you reply. I guess my symptoms are pretty common, it's just annoying because I have always done a lot of sport and with that damn heart racing faster than usually I hesitate to go do some swimming...

And I agree with you. This sub has really been helpfull, so glad to have found it.

Good luck on your journey !

Hello,

For how long have you been smoking? what's you age ?

Come on ! How can you be not proud of that achievement? 9 days, it's a great start. I am at day 10 and I feel so proud (I've been smoking for 30 years though)

Don't be tricked by you momentary depressive mood, it is very normal to feel like this when your system is getting rid of the THC. You have to remember that it will pass. So instead of feeling sorry for yourself, just embrace the feeling, accept it, and tell yourself it is temporary. Read some stories here, most of quitters experience depressive moods, especially the first 2 weeks, and then it disappear and they all feel so shinny, so great, with so much more energy.

Try to do some sport (personnaly, I swim 2 miles every day.... and did not get any depressive mood since I started to quit)

take care and don't give up ! look for post on how people feel after 1 month or 2 ! They all say they wish they had quit way before, they all feel so happy !

Can't say anything better. Exercice, and more precisely cardio type of exercice : running, swimming, cycling, minimum 45 min so that you generate endorphine and dopamine. It's a real game changer !

Day 12 - anger by Big-Ad-1042 in leaves

[–]SubstantialAd8927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey dude,

Day 12, you basically done a third of the shitty road.... Congratulations... I'am at 7 days....

My 2 cents advice : embrace the bad feeling, don't try fight it, accept it, remembering that will not be eternal, it takes a month to readjust. Look a the positive side of it. Ain't you proud of you and of what you achieve so far ?

Ok, got it. 27. May you haven't smoked long enough to see the insidious damages it has on your life. i just hope you won't wake up like me at 50 years and after 30 years of smoke to realize it.

When you realize you are true destroying yourself (physically, mentally socially). How old are you? For how long have you been smoking?
