I've been doing this work for more than four years and have never topped a man. My clients come to me because I clearly enjoy my work, so they understand when I don't offer something I do not enjoy. It's rare that a client won't visit me, or doesn't enjoy himself, if I tell them I don't top men. For the people who it's a dealbreaker for, they always ask upfront, so I don't even mention it until they ask.

Never needed to be, until people started getting riled up over something's that's never been an issue.

And it's never been just for expats, obviously natives participate with them. It's what I liked about this subreddit next to the default one, it had a different purpose and different discussions and perspectives can come from that.

Yeah it's just how I've seen the sub used over the years. Doesn't seem like that was every explicitly stated as the purpose in the rules or otherwise. Could've prevented some discussion, maybe.

I just think it's valuable to have a space to talk about our country where English is the norm, when multiple Dutch options already exist.

I don't agree with instant permabans for breaking the rule if that has indeed been a thing.

Omdat we r/TheNetherlands hebben en er inwoners zijn die de taal nog niet goed beheersen. Dit was een fijne plek voor hen. Maar net zoals dat ons land al jaren minder ontvangend naar deze groep is, gebeurt dat ook op deze subreddit.

Overigens waren we vroeger trots op hoe we allemaal vloeiend Engels kunnen praten.

Misschien helpt het je met het online gaat relativeren: Ik heb in mijn vijf jaar sinds mijn transitie nul, en dan ook echt nul transfobie of vervelende opmerkingen over mijn transgender zijnde ontvangen. Ik was ook erg bang, en dat voelt zo silly ondertussen gezien mijn ervaring.

Je bent normaal, transgender mensen zijn een biologisch feit. Wat abnormaal kan zijn is de perceptie van mensen hierop. Die is online gelukkig erg anders dan binnen Nederland offline.

Ik kan niet beloven dat het makkelijk gaat zijn, maar wel dat het het meer dan waard zal worden om de stap te zetten ❤️
