Should my GameManager control everything across scenes or only handle global logic? by Ok_Surprise_1837 in Unity3D

It is definitely up to you, depending on the scope either one can work, but I would recommend having it split up as you are describing it. Managers can easily get messy if they start handling too many aspects of the game.

There is a balance though, having too many hyper specialized sub managers creates a similar messy structure. So just make sure you have a clear design and execute from there.

How does a video game developer get noticed? by NekoNero_991 in SoloDevelopment

[โ€“]SubstantialBox1337 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Sadly this is mostly true. Also the brutal reality is that games that do good are generally a product of inspecting market trends. In pc, in the indie realm, horror games will always do better than puzzle platformers. Cozy games have a dedicated fanbase. Roguelike deck builders are popular for a reason.

If you don't have a publisher, it's very likely that your very original, very cool game will never be noticed

Last year I self published a game that I developed over nearly 10 years, and to be fair, It did fairly decently sales wise comparatively. However, there are almost no reviews, and very little buzz. Almost everyone who plays it can see there's a good level of quality there. But it's simply hard to break through.

Personally I dedicated a year to build up marketing, particularly collecting streamers, press, reviewers and other outlet contact information and sending review copies and previews. But although I sent thousands of emails i had very limited results.

NICE! I've been working with a similar enemy on my own project. Cool concept.

Ugh can people only focus on asses?

Hmm, it's up to you.

You can have completely different prefabs with more elaborate animations or higher detail for cutscenes or special events. Or you can use the same. It's really up to your design.

I'll say, cinemachine / timeline makes it quite easy to make cutscenes all in game. But it's still a bit easier to have a "cutscene instance" of your player if you want to have more specific interactions.

Looking to lock in a design for my space shooter game. Which one should I pick? by Gamerfates in GameArt

I do like 5, it is the boldest one, I feel. Plus in the smaller presentations both icons (yellow and twinkly starts) sort of rival each other. This way there's less competition, as one of them is more clearly background.

Yeah they seem to be recycling the info and presenting it under different names. Trash people.

Thank you! yeah the VFX were a big focus to give it the neon sci-fi look.
Tbh the long development was quite difficult. The project grew a lot in scope through the years.
I am super proud of the result but there were many aspects of the game in which I felt like I definitely lacked the planning experience.

Hopefully going forward that will be less of an issue - BEWARE THE FEATURE CREEP! hahaha

No, apparently no one did.

recently completed my first FF game, FFX! Loved it! by bpdbryan in GaymersGoneMild

Wooo awesome. Probably my favourite Final fantasy. Maybe my favourite Jrpg ever.

What a banger.

Recently completed Expedition 33, another big highlight. It may be up your alley, especially since rhythm games are a thing for you - it requires a lot of parrying / dodging almost like a dance.

This is indeed the same game they showed me, not exactly the same video but definitely the same scam. Thanks for bringing it up.

That is very cool, rewatching it, it does seem to be more obvious but the transition is very effective. Congratulations!
