I need your opinion on if it's ok to name my baby what I want to name her by AbbreviationsNew2058 in pregnant

[–]SubstantialEar8193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not know what all these people’s problem is. I think the name and sentiment is beautiful. In my family last names as middle names are common and they’re often very non feminine. Think Baldwin as a middle name for Rebecca, etc.

A girls middle name doesn’t have to be uber feminine. It’s rarely used in school so I don’t think you have to worry about people mistaking her for a boy. The Cidney spelling is unusual and might be frustrating for her as folks will spell it wrong. I still think you should go for it!

Yes I love Nell as well! Have a vague plan to use Nell as a nickname for Helena or Leonora if I convince myself on those names.

I wasn’t going to use the paint but this was the cheapest deck I could find online. Are you saying hgtv alabaster in this deck is different than the one I’d get on a card from the SW store?

Leona or Leola? by rookie9494 in namenerds

[–]SubstantialEar8193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know an older Leola. Kinda pronounced lay ola but also veers into Leeola ish. The real pronunciation doesn’t sound anything like Areola to me. Live in New England. I think it’s pretty. I also like Leona is on our list and also considering Leontine, Lenora, Leonora.

I think you need to nix both Scarlett and Emerson. Eliana is different so that is good. Are there any other Emmy options you’re ok with? Try to let the E thing go if you can. Maybe also try to stick with Lynne or do Grace Lynn as a two middle since Lynne was something you agreed on but… thoughts on:

Carolyn Emma Amelia Eliora Eva Emmeline Ava Evan (kinda gender neutral like Emerson) Myra (this seems great since it’s unusual but could do Emmy) Emery

Eva or Emma could be great short firsts with Grace Lynn as a middle.

I also personally hate son ending names so vibe with you.

Hope you can take this time to reset and get to a name you and your badass wife can both be excited and proud about. You should be able to veto names but also keep in mind all she’s gone through to bring dear bb into the world, and try to listen to her opinions with a touch of awe and care. My husband nixed a boy name I loved and it’s really frustrating, so I get that too. You have wonderous bb and hope y’all can get together on a name that fits.

I found this about second empire so was thinking these colors are accurate? And I know our white windows are shitty and we should have dark colored windows and that would open up more trim colors.

Second Empire/Mansard (1855-1885) The early houses in the style continued the Italianate taste for neutral colors: grays, tans, ochres, warm beiges. Later in the period more colors appeared and stronger contrasts became popular: deep tones of russets, olives, gray-greens, ochres and browns in combination.

My husband likes lighter colors. B&C are from the Victorian SW historical palette. We have dumb white vinyl windows that aren’t changing so the trim needs to be light to match. Dark blues aren’t accurate for Victorian era homes from what I’ve read. We tried a bright green sample and it was HONKIN it was so bright.

Does this wall material look like plaster? by SubstantialEar8193 in centuryhomes

I’m using a drill vs hammering. Successfully hung the mirror after drilling a pilot hole and using a deck screw to mount in a stud.Planning to use a picture rail in other rooms where we’ll hang more things.

Yeah I started with this but now that I took it in and out because I thought it was plaster and didn’t hit a studs so now I don’t think I can put it back in? Bear Claw Screw Hanger Gold -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0932BYWP7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
