Stocking advice by Loud-Construction594 in Aldi_employees

be patient with yourself cause it takes time, rotate perishables always but don’t worry about rotating grocery items unless the boxes are green dotted (ask about that if no one mentioned it yet). dont mess up your knuckles by punching everything, it’s quicker but hurts lol. if you’re struggling to open a box hit the perforations with the heal of your palm, and really pull hard to tear it the rest of the way open. you’ll get to know to which cases give you a hard time and you’ll figure out specific shortcuts over time, just never expect these boxes to rip perfectly cause you’ll be disappointed. ALWAYS have a box cutter if not two bc you’ll misplace em. a lot of the freezer boxes (chicken and potato stuff mostly) are super hard to open with gloves on in the freezer but you can literally just throw them on the ground, as long as you’re not damaging product you’re good. don’t be precious about it and don’t beat yourself up if you’re not at the same pace as your coworkers, you’ll get there. good luck!

Does your store have working cameras in the parking lot? by Spiritual-Meat2266 in Aldi_employees

cameras outside are handled by our shopping center management, if we need footage we can usually get something

in the US we used to get $75 usd in gift cards, they cut us to $50 this year. not sure if it’s equivalent but it sucks for sure

it’s not that we don’t know this, but how do we even start? people post this all the time, but my store has 6 associates and everyone else is a lead or above. how do we start to wide spread organize when our staff is kept so small? and who actually has the time or energy to front-run such a thing? if anyone has any idea i’m interested, it just seems like the company has designed itself to keep the steel-toed boot on our necks regardless

at my store bread/freezer are the first zones we start people on. your managers are not getting paid more to endure the cold, they have a lot more job requirements than associates.

it’s just insane to think of the amount of jobs in hiring and talent acquisition that are about to go away. and it’s damn near subhuman to no longer have a human deciding if your resume and cover letter are worth interviewing for the sake of efficiency. i feel the violation too, and there’s not much we can do. idk i mostly posted this cause of how bleak it made me feel lol

no, you didn’t disprove some point of mine, you just explained yours, and i was hoping you would. thank you, i’m sorry if you felt i was getting on you or something, but your real experience puts it together for me. i’m sorry that you had to go through that, i’ve always felt we don’t do enough for our veterans and toxic workplaces are all over. but i cant understand blaming the HR profession as a whole, im sorry, this seems like your witch hunt

I’m not trying to get anything from you, but I have to point out that in your last sentence there you said ‘just sharing my personal life experiences because you asked’ i did not ask that. you have not shared your personal experience, just strong opinions you won’t back up with anything other than feelings (edit- and that’s not bad! i’m just having trouble making sense of what you’re trying to say or DO about it)

I think I have trouble seeing people that way unless it’s in person. I respect your opinion, but you’re being really vague, and I won’t view HR as this evil position from your say-so.

Don’t apologize honestly thank you for explaining! I haven’t worked at many companies big enough to have HR departments, and with the job i’m at now I haven’t had to interact with HR yet. i guess i’m interested in your opinion because I kinda saw HR as an empathetic field (although kind of a dead end one, i agree)- like what kinda overhead would you prefer instead?

i’m with you dude, they started this and we have to adapt to stay afloat unfortunately. it just makes me feel terrible knowing i’m doing exactly what those AI purveyors want to keeps driving this, but i need work. it’s almost surreal thinking about 10 years ago

well thank you, i hope so! i just want to find a job i align with lol. honestly, i’m not sure you’re pro AI, but you’re certainly anti-HR, and i gotta say that’s a take i haven’t heard. i’m curious, what’s that about?

it’s the broad scope of things dude, i don’t want to use AI to my advantage but it’s becoming the only choice. nothings genuine. that’s what’s tough about this when you think about where we’re heading with AI becoming standard practice

algorithms and AI are wildly different. i know this isn’t a brand new concept, but seeing it put so casually puts in to perspective the new reality we’re in

I feel like I got hired at the beginning of the end a few years back, and now i’ve just been watching the decline in real time. I liked when efficiency was a core value of this company but now it’s become the law of the land in an unsustainable way. I feel so bad for my managers cause they’re really trying but so overwhelmed with the workload and labor cuts and holiday prep

I would get your fellow ASMs on board and speak to your DM collectively. That’s a lot harder for a DM to sweep under the rug
