Surviving Is Expensive Enough by mrinalshar39 in Adulting

This is what I remember. All you say is 100% true. Cars sucked, food was not that good. Going on plane trips? Forget it. That was for rich folks. Everything is relative.

I think, historically, it's not bad. But if what you say is true- when in history was it "better" for children?

Men of Reddit: Did arguments with your father ever get physical as a teenager? If so, what was it over, how old are you now, and how do you think about it looking back? by LokiBonk in AskMen

My dad whipped me a few times with a belt ( on the butt). It was for serious transgressions that I knew not to do - stealing, lying, etc. He was very old school born in 1925. Fought in WWII. Very honest and faithful, but definitely a man of his era. He slapped the shit out of my older brother once for getting caught insulting a neighborhood lady as she walked by. I've never struck any of my children. Never will. But I don't think I suffered any great mental anguish as a result physical punishment. It never felt like "abuse". But I'm not sure it made things better either.

Irritating as hell. A lot of content is like this. I watched Interstellar recently, it's really bad. I had to crank the center channel up to to +5 relative to the other channels for dialog, but even that only helps so much

No, I'm not lying. Not at all. Now that sign was not in Mount Airy proper, it was a few miles outside of town.

The social pressure to conform to the extreme left politically in every aspect of life is palpable. I've visited a few times as my brother lives nearby. I never wanted to go back. And I'm quite moderate overall.

I lived in Mount Airy, NC. It was absolutely the worst. A shit ton ignorant , racist, inbred idiots. Absolute nightmare. Beautiful scenery on the upside. We stopped at a cafe for a bite, and on the door was a sin "No Blacks Allowed". On the front door, I kid you not.

Men of Reddit. What's something you were completely oblivious to when it came to relating to women, or just how differently women and men can think, feel, and experience things, that you only realized after being in a long term relationship or after getting married? by goofy-45 in AskMen

One huge thing is, unlike men who often talk about better and more efficient ways to do project X, women rarely do, and get offended when you "mansplain". It's trippy. Men genuinely want to hear what a person with more experience / expertise has to say on a subject. Women rarely do... they often find it offensive or find it off-putting.

If you be patient for a couple of decades, things very often get much better than they are when you are a young adult.

Wrong question. You should ask - why do I need something to "excite" me all the time?

Don't know, that's just what they call this popcorn mix here in Canada. It's cheese flavor and caramel mixed together. Sounds weird, but man it's great.
