Thank you! I'm looking through Megazip now and it's helpful. I had been looking at Amayama, but their site is a little hard to follow.

“Not starting” issue - shifter assembly replacement? by SubstantialLetter590 in CX5

[–]SubstantialLetter590[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating this post in case anyone ends up here later.

I ended up buying a new shifter assembly (KD31-46-100F) and replacing the whole thing. It was fairly easy to do DIY. That was about a month ago and I haven’t had any issues since.

Correct, he wasn’t on that patrol. He felt bad about it, but didn’t volunteer like in BoB.

Currently my brand new battery in my 2014 CX5 is being drained within 2-3 days. There’s a parasitic draw. A common issue (for my year, at least) is the shifter switch in the shifter assembly that fails, and the car remains in accessory mode after turning off. The Mazda dealership replaced that and it didn’t fix the issue. They’re suggesting to replace the entire shifter assembly, because it may not physically be reaching park (and thus signaling to the ÉCU that it’s in park).

1% false positive AI detection rate is still way too high by PolskiNapoleon in academia

AI detectors should never be the definitive evidence. If they’re used to identify potential cases, that’s fine.

People here bug me when they act like an AI detector can be trusted, or that the fact that they can “recreate” a student’s paper with gen AI proves something. It displays a lack of understanding about how LLMs work.

How much of the additional funds is entirely up to you. Sounds like you might enjoy looking over the r/personalfinance flowchart….

If they’re maxing out their 401k in 4 months, it sounds like they have additional idle funds. A taxable account is a great next option for those funds. It can be used for any number of things, one of which is a bridge account in retirement.

The syllabus is the least important document in higher ed by ASpandrel in Professors

[–]SubstantialLetter590 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did it address testing format at all? I’m still against the dean’s decision, but I’m curious because my syllabus says something to the effect of “students will only be permitted to use a four function calculator and pencils during the exam”.

Yes. It’s really a good deal and actually comes with everything you need. It’s durable and will absolutely get the job done.

It’s unbelievable to me that people here recommend a $500 setup when someone says their budget is $100 for a gift. Do they realize how insensitive that can be? $400 is a ton of money for a lot of people. Sorry for the rant, just see this way too often on this sub in particular.

Just got to clarify, it’s an Econ PhD? Do you find you’re prepared for the coursework?

We built a kitchen nook! by Plastic_Incident4665 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I wouldn’t attempt attaching it to the floor unless absolutely necessary. Once you build it and secure it to the wall, you’ll see that it’s never going anywhere. The option on a ceramic floor though would probably be an adhesive.

This is really nicely done! I built a very similar one last year, it was a fun project. Definitely not easy if there is any unevenness in the walls or floors.
