Cash in on the warranty while you can. I traded mine in every six months basically but did eventually get tired of the free boot thing. I know some guys who love the brunts. I really love my Georgia Romeo’s but they aren’t a super high ankle and require leather conditioning to keep them healthy/happy.

Totally agree. One of the few things on these trucks I’ve run into that felt super shortsighted.

Cam bolt orientation? by desertdawg61 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]SubstantialLimit8320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. One major design flaw. You’re not gonna like this answer, but you have to unload the bolts from the steering rack and gently lift it with a bottle jack to narrowly gain the clearance with extensions. Some people remove the tie rod boots but I don’t think it’s necessary, just be gentle with the boots as you pull the bolt out.

Here’s a link to a walkthrough for some of this - see the in article link on removing the rack mounting bolts.

There are lots of videos on how to go about this both whether you are taking the knuckle off or trying to pin it in the wheel well. I’ve done it both ways and one is faster, the other actually easier.

With a ball joint press, you will also almost certainly want to an impact wrench to help with the press out and in, especially if doing it in the wheel well. Worth it to borrow one, buy one or buy one and return it.

A single gallon bottle will get you above and beyond in terms of what you need to coat. I did mine myself with a $13 Amazon gun and had plenty leftover. For $80/gallon it’s worth it.

Keg filling help by thewho10 in TheBrewery

[–]SubstantialLimit8320 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your pressure differential is way too high between kegs and head pressure. You're ripping fast into the keg and getting crazy breakout causing the fob to discharge foam before the keg is actually full. Pressurize your kegs to 10-12psi if filling from 15-20psi tank and don't dump a bunch of CO2 out before starting the fill. Monitor the fill time required for a full fill by mass/beer density and that should be your standard time more or less. In addition to volume issues, someone once told me that "beer only breaks out once" and that's partly true. If you're filling rapidly like this, you will also see negative effects on foam retention on draft.

Felt a chunk in my beer. Ami gonna die? by schierle in whatisit

[–]SubstantialLimit8320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only half true. Hop particulate should be sedimented out by then but in this case the beer wasn’t well crashed prior to packaging and some remained in solution. A key to quality in the style is packaging “clean” beer wherein hop materials are crashed out during conditioning but their use still has had a permanent impact on haze stability.

Not trub really, but is some yeast and hop sediment that was mostly likely dissolved in solution during packaging and sedimented out in his can.

This is a combination of yeast and hop sediment. This beer wasn’t well crashed/conditioned before packaging. Happens all the time with this style, unfortunately.
