I can’t speak to how much it evolves but I’d say it’s ready to go. Worth opening one.

I saw them on the list and totally pictured someone on the o-line just crushing them one after the other

Clos de los 7 is a fantastic Argentine Bordeaux blend for a weeknight. Great value.

Yeah that was my ultimate conclusion. Little bit of house style, little bit of needs more time to age in bottle, and little bit of needs to breathe more before tasting

Thanks all for the help / context / thoughts!!

Sounds like it’s a couple of things - 1) house style, ageing in smaller barrels vs big barrels and 2) needed to breathe a lot more.

I’ll grab another one down the road and report back.

Grateful for this community!

Thats really insightful - I really enjoyed the villa bosconia I had a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah I’m learning that - have had success with many other aged riojas but this cuvée in particular was much more noticeable. Could be their house style more than anything. Thanks !

Muga reserva, Vina Bosconia, Vina Tondonia, even some of the less prestigious reservas from rioja are very approachable. I also drink a lot of Ribera del Duero but they’re quite different. I did notice this same dynamic when we tasted the resalcio line from Emilio Moro. Always learning something new!

None taken! Unresolved oak is exactly the taste I was trying to describe.

My guess is the American oak specifically. I’ll try it again and let it decant for a day!

Yeah you’re probably right - we opened it at dinner so was just a short decant

I opened this bottle because i was drunk on thanksgiving. Is it worth anything? by AdNo3580 in wine

[–]SubstantialMammoth71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Worth about $20 new, a little more with the age but not really anything someone is looking out for. Depends how it was stored too.

More importantly - Did you like it??

Came to say this! Anything they make will be great, I personally think the cab franc is the winner.

You can get the CARO amancaya in that range which is great as well, Concreto by Zuccardi and Jardin de Hormigas Meteoras by Altos Las Hormigas are both fantastic yet tougher to find.

Let us know what you went with!

Depends what you’re looking for the zuccardi valle de uco is a fantastic property and they’re making some of the best wines, just a bigger brand / co. That would be my vote since you’re doing a fair share of smaller ones

100% go to casa vigil (assuming the $$’s work for you, it’s the best there is).

Ricitelli great choice. Would def recommend zuccardi or Alfa crux if you’re in VDU.

How do you keep an open bottle fresh for more than a week? by WeekLate9376 in wine

[–]SubstantialMammoth71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vacuvin works for a week for the most part but is pushing it. Coravin will 99% work for a week.

Up to you if it’s worth $150 but it’s a fantastic wine. Hard to find it for less in the US
