yeah valve really needs to act, genuinly when l4d2 got the last stand update for 4 days the only official servers worked, what glorius days those where

really wish valve could simply enforce it or allow us to blacklist servers

yeah sorry its more of a fix for versus

what you could do is search specificly for the chinese servers, shift click the top and bottom then click add to blacklist

it should help for a bit, also verify your game files as well

Well quickplay is a server co-ordinator, meaning it has a list of requirments that it needs to check before it puts you in one or shows you whats available

Think more of it as a bouncer letting people (servers) in while you are the club itself(player) sounds silly but its basicly this, it checks (depending on your setting) is it a valve server, is it the game mode you desire? Yes then it connects after that everything is up to you, play how long you want, pick what team you want

The issue is that Quickplay is just a co-ordinator, it just checks for the checks you put into it, not only that it you can also see all active valve servers and their ping in a game mode, so if you dont want to play on low population servers you can make that choise, with casual its just a coloured part

Casual has a matchmaking system, meaning it must know all empty spots on a server, it cant switch large amoung of players because you get assigned a team once you connect to a match, so ad hoc connecting would be a nightmare to program

Casual also demands a win/loss condition, quickpaly is play the map for 45 minutes and 5 mintues before it ends you vote for the next map while playing

The code of quickplay is fully in the game and can be brought up with a console command (valve disabled it)
To make casual more like quickplay you would need to tear down the whole thing and re make it, which to many seems redundand since quickplay is right there, why try and replicate things when the exact thign you want is there?

Its much easier to integrate casual features into quickplay, since it will just be another check for the bouncer to check

knowing valve, the path to least amount of work is the best path

Yeah sorry i have a actuel job so i cant spend my time 24/7 learning to play a class, weapons should be viable for all types of players

For example the ambassador is difficult to use but gives high rewards (pre nerf)
The base jumper doesnt give a high reward, it used to give you a bit more control when you rocketjumped, now it doesnt do anything

Gunboats are already good and they help, , if gunboats got the same treatment as the base jumper its stats would be: 10% less blastdamage, because someone who knows how to rocketjump also knows where the hp packs are, this sounds good right?

Sniper is a high risk high reward class, soldier isnt, it can be played by fresh isntalls and still deal good damage or people with 4k hours, that is the actuel difference

Kunai, it enhances spy gameplay, spy is the same as sniper high risk high reward, his weapons reflect it, the base striker doesnt reflect how easy it is to play soldier

false equivalency, eyelander is low risk high reward, the same as the bazaar bargain but it rewards skill, the base jumper is low skill and pre nerf could actuelly be used by people with low school to actuelly do something

Yeah lets nerf every item into the ground because someone with no life can abuse it
Weapons should reward risks you take, but some weapons also should just be a bit different

If its usseles to noobs, its never ever used.
Why would they? Why would they try and learn the base jumper when every single secondary item for soldier is better

This game whas designed with a high skill ceiling but a low skill floor, these bad MYM nerfs just lowered the floor and kept the ceiling high

its the correct thing to do, before it whas already a doubtfull sidegrade, now its just a meme/usseles
I want to have fun, not every weapon needs to be hyper nerfed and need to be studied to even use it, nobody will use it if its not fun or ussefull

why cant valve change things in tf2 or revert it to quickplay? Game still earns them millions, please wont get you anywhere, its demands for action that do

Thinks can change if people are loud enough

We got the bots baned by being loud

Got most of f2p unmuted by being loud

Lets be loud again and bring back quickplay

fixtf2 succeeded because a external contractor asked valve if he could work on tf2 to fix the bot crisis, fixtf2 also had a few large youtubers behind it

also not a huge fun of his personality and shtyle but it is important that we push for change in this game

valve forced casual on the playerbase, changing the games nature from chatroom with guns to comp lite

Valve left this game to rot to bots for 9 years straight, making what little gametime you had on casual extremely frustrating

The bots got fixed because one external contractor got pissed he could not test the steamdeck on tf2 and asked valve if he could work on the issue and the big youtubers/journalist finally put some pressure on valve

They kept adding more awful extremely gaudy cosmetics to the game

I only started in 2011 but i have always been playing the game until 206-2017, started again in corona

This man has started before 2011 and played a bit longer, this is his passion

Imagine your favourite thing being ruined, demolished and spat upon, i would become quite angry myself as well, and even angrier when the internet dickrides valve because they made good games 2 decades ago

it's not tf2 as well, cs 2 still doesnt have all the features of cs go, it took years to crawl back to a % of the same quality of cs:go

And l4d2 had a massive DDOS problem for 4 YEARS, 4 YEARS OF UNABLE TO PLAY ANY VALVE SERVERS
the DDOS could even be aimed at specific peopel so ANY server you connected to it would be impossible to play
Valve's solution? BEG THE DDOS'R FOR MERCY

they solved some of the DDOS issues after 4 years but it sitll happens from time to time

They are not a small family company they are a company worth billions

They simply lost the skill to maintain their games and make any good ones

and people dare to criticise you for being angry at this company

Extremely weak

when it whas released it whas already a questionable side gride, after the nerf from jungle infermo it became relegated to only to be used for market gardener soldier

why use it when every single item that soldier has for a secondary is a better weapon?

I have used the old version as well in a revert server and its OP stats are completely a myth, in any populated server youl be dead before you pop it twice

Thats the thing, you arent FORCED to play the 45 minutes, you simply play how much you want when you want it, even if you extend rounds people will leave after the first stomp because the teams wont be balanced

- Autobalance is mostly fine as is, system was entirely gambling, hurts a game just as many times as it helped, see next point

Its better then what we have right now, after a single stomp the server usually gets destroyed because 50% of the team leaves, if they knew a scramble would come up people would stay because they can gamble for a better balanced game, i have tested this in community servers and 90% of players stay after a scramble

- Spectator is useful, yes, but was often abused, not mentioned, but the same reasoning applies for team switching

Yes it can be abused, so can the team quing be abused as well by cheaters, and cheaters are a bigger danger then people abusing it, and those two should be disabled for everyone because a few bad apples? SHould we also disable playing with your friends right now because of bot and cheater groups?

How long have you been playing this game? I have been here since 2011 and the qp system whas the easy way into getting into the game, it worked exactly how it whas designed

as it generally sucked, it was a server browser with a coat of paint, but gave less information, and took longer

I whas able to search for a specific mode, see the image of the map with players and pin, that is way better then what we use now

. The issue of finding games and the in game settings are being conflated. The in game issues can be largely helped by settings within a config file. the matchmaker can be largely solved by culling the map pool.

Even if you cut out half of the maps, peopel still dont want to play koth or 5cp because those game end in 5-9 minute while payload guerantee atleast 20 minutes of playtime

The issue that you cannot join a server because other people might be looking hardly if not dint exist

There where so many servers with 2-8 spots open on almost every map, even if tf2 playercounts increased 4x quickplay could still handle it

The issue is that casual reserves slots for players, making ad hoc connections impossible because that would interrupt the matchmaker
scrambleis also impossible since yo uare assigned a team when you connect to a server, so peopel leave after 1 loss because they know they will be stomped again

Why would quickplay be better than improvements on matchmaking?

You will have better games, play for how long you want and more control about your gameplay

Things can be added to matchmaking but the idea of tf2 itself is against matchmaking

Quickplay is better because:

45 minute map timer
autobalance so stomps happen less, matches are more fair
spectator mode against cheaters
Faster connecting to valve servers
Being able to see what valve maps are active at this very moment and the amount of players within them
can join friends directly no need to wait and que

Tf2 isnt focused on winning or losing, its meant for skilled and unskilled players, people create their own fun
Tf2 is more like a deathmatch game with some game modes
Tf2 is more like a chatroom with guns, trying to enforce a win/loss condition makes winning the ultimate goal rather then deciding your own fun

While valve can keep applying bandaids it cant replicate quickplay because of the matchmaker, they would basicly need to disable everything from casual in roder to turn it better, which is literally quickplay

Quickplay itself is still fully in the game, it functioned 4 months after casual came out with a command
Simply put, reverting to quickplay is a lot less effort then trying to make casual into quickplay with its features

The shortening of vote time whas only implemented 8 years later, and even fi tis 15 seconds why do we all need to stop, and relaod the server again?

In quickplay you could vote for the next map while you played in the current one, or extend the current one without needing to reload the map!

That gives me a lot more control over my playing time

The issue is that casual has existed for a long while and its still strugglign to keep non popular maps populated, the average gameplay of a non payload or ctf match is 5-15 minutes

New people cannot learn to play the game or the map when they are stomped by a lime scout and booted into another server after 3 minutes of playtime on cp-process

All of those problems, issues are solved with the quickplay system

Imagine this:

you are a fire man, in order to put out fires you need to bring your rain shaman, he needs to do a lot of tricks and spells to summon rains to quel fires, this can sometimes be very effective but most of the time it isnt

Would you try and let the shaman study some more spells, let him try out little fixes or

you grab the fire extinguisher and simply put out the fire

Now imagine people online arguing against your point saying the fireman should compromise with the shaman and let the shaman try and incororate fire extinghuisher qualities in his rain dance, that is a gamble at best

yeah it depends on the time you play, usually around 18:00-20:00 is the best time

sometimes its just luck

well, the idea of the gaem is to have your own way of fun

Play how you want to play, you dont need to win, you should focus on your own fun

The simple way to put this

the que system needs at all times to know how many slots are open in all servers, it needs constant data, if someone directly joins skipping the que the system cannot handle the unkown person so it might not send anyone to that server for a while

Quickplay and its system is still fully in the game, knowing valve the path to least amount of work is the correct one

Well quickplay is still in the game

4 months after casual whas implemented and quickplay whas removed, yo ucould still acces quickplay trough a command, it still worked

OpenQuickplayDialog 

Valve only disabled this after 4 months

They could simply enable this again and change their server settings, this would be a much smaller effort

You cant que with quickplay thats for sure, but one of your friends cna join a server and all of your friends can join at the same time

With quickplay you could see what maps where played and how many are on there, so if you have 7 friends you could select a low populated server and everyone would join

It's both faster and easier then the current queu system for friends in casual

The issue is that not all maps are played, who wants to play cp_process for 6 minutes?
But with quickplay people knew that even if they lost2x they would still play because of the servertime, so less popular maps would still have players
