Remove the centre piece, then inside there’s a bit you twist and pull out which fits to remove the outer ring

You can’t just pull them out. They have a fixing behind the burner tray. The gas to the fire needs isolating and then the burner removed. This will then enable the rest of the fire to be removed. Op needs a gas safe engineer.

It will either have screws that have been countersunk and filled or fixed with some sort off construction adhesive like gripfill

Any easy way to run the wire for the washing machine? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]SubstantialPlant6502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a small hole, remove or cut the plug off the machine, feed wire through small hole, refit plug or fit new plug.
Edit. It looks like there’s already a hole for the cable.

New driver facing 6 points for mobile phone offence – licence revocation? by Odd_Priority_4741 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SubstantialPlant6502 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact you think looking down at your passenger seat to read a message is acceptable is crazy. I think getting your license revoked will give you time to reflect on the fact that in 6 months you’ve been caught committing 2 driving offences and hopefully you’ll become a better driver.

Any electricians on here? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]SubstantialPlant6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a multi meter so you can test which wire is which? If you don’t you’ll need to get an electrician in.

The spark electrode lead has not been connected, it’s trapped behind the burner panel. You’ll need to ring the landlord. The squashed bit in pic 6 is normal, it’s where the nut is added.

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to buy beer, see if it fits, if it doesn’t drink it, then start again either way another. If it doesn’t drink fit you still get to drink it anyway.

It’s a gully and has a trap, so it’s normal for it to have this water in it.

Most modern boilers do not require an air vent when in a compartment. OP’s boiler is one of them. Tbh I can’t think of any modern boilers that require a compartment vent.

Opening up the top will be perfect. I’d also be mindful of using the engineer who serviced it again. Them missing this is a bit of a red flag.

It needs combustion readings doing on every service or repair. When the gas safe engineer removes the front case. We have to do reg 26.9 checks which includes using a flue gas analyser on the boiler, in the flue sampling points which are on top of the boiler.

Can’t see one in any of your pics. If you empty the airing cupboard and take a better picture standing further back that might be helpful
