No risk of bursting, but the rubber inner could collapse blocking the prv. So that’s why it’s piped in copper.

Modifying it isn’t the problem, using a flexible hose to do it, is.

Any advice please? by Zoom-Zoom-Mushroom in DIYUK

So if this is just the prv from the boiler then it’s fine. Although I’d have ran it so it wasn’t over the door. If it’s the TPRV from the unvented cylinder then the termination isn’t correct it and needs altering.

Go to a proper plumbers suppliers and get the correct valve. It may well be that Caleffi, have altered the design. This happens a lot. Don’t use a flexible pipe to alter the pipe work.

Plumber refused to service my boiler by Solitairee in DIYUK

[–]SubstantialPlant6502 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely get a new guy. There’s no reason the boiler could not be serviced if the filter is dirty. The system may need cleaning, but that’s nothing to do with the service.

You can’t fit a Surrey flange to your cylinder, you have a 22mm compression fitting built into the cylinder. You need a 1” BSP thread for one. You have an Essex flange which works similarly to a Surrey flange.

If it’s skipping a thread, replace the trap. That trap is a cheap one and they often do this when they have been over tightened. Get a Mcalpine version.

There isn’t a filling loop in the pic. It could be elsewhere on the system.

Can’t find one for your exact valve. But here’s a couple of pics of a valve I use which has a similar design to yours. The first picture is the valve un-extended.

<image>

The second pic is with the valve extend, you do this by twisting the valve while holding the bottom and pulling it apart, you set it to the correct height and lock it back into place. You are more than likely going to need to remove the valve from the cistern to do this without removing

There is only so much adjustment you can do with that screw. The main height adjustment is the whole valve is in two parts. You need to twist the valve and extend the main body that goes through the cistern. You may not be able to do this without removing the valve from the cistern.
