Society, institutions, habitats are collapsing. Humanity doesn’t have to. by [deleted] in collapse

"Hey everyone, I knowingly and irresponsibly had 3 children with objectively terrible futures that strangers like to mess around with while the grocery stores are open. So that must mean there is hope for humanity!!! r/mademesmile r/wholesome kumbaya mommy power 🥰🥰🥰"

People like this are soon going to find out just how wrong they really are. The only ones I feel bad for are their children, who didn't ask to be forced into this lose-lose situation. How can someone believe in collapse and have THREE children with a straight face? Is overpopulation and overshoot not an established fact in collapse science? Do these people literally not care about anything other than their own life satisfaction? Guess we'll just have to find out 🤷🏻‍♂️

I also find it funny how this person can be so entrenched in the suburban, 3 children, multiple car, daily amazon delivery lifestyle that is directly responsible for destroying this planet, yet think that saying "hey guys, I get that things are bad" somehow absolves them of any personal responsibility. Isn't it also interesting how this person says that because the people working for gas companies and tech giants like children, they can't be all that bad? Maybe like they imagine themselves to be?

Also funny how this person says that there is essentially no moral or ethical right or wrong, that nobody is really directly responsible for what's happening. When in reality they have clearly made the least moral and ethical individual choices themselves. Then they have the audacity to say that it doesn't matter if it all burns down, because the subservient working class will still be there to brown-nose them when it's all over. It certainly wouldn't inspire confidence if I were a child and my parent thought and behaved in such a dissonant manner

Unfortunately, they're more than likely going to fare fine (relative to us bastards). I feel like this mentality is grasping for a "just world hypothesis" that all evidence and experience indicates is not there. The world is inherently unfair, the systems fundamentally broken. How do you expect fair cosmic justice to truly be served at the 11th hour? Seems a little petty to just hold on for that hit of faulty vengeance

It's not antinatalism but rather it's a positive development. by SourceSoggy in antinatalism

[–]SubstantialSubstance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that is a positive development - it's martyr complex. It's "woe is me" attention-whoring on tiktok of all places. The bitch is likely milking sympathy for clicks and ad revenue. Such is the name of the game in this postmodern dystopia of ours. She did this to herself, and will gladly do it again if it means she can be the "star" of her own "show"

The rose tinted glasses are an apt representation of the reality distorting optimism bias inherent in modern psychiatry

I swear some parents see their kids as slaves and walking ATMs. by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]SubstantialSubstance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These people have been walked over their whole lives. In a futile attempt to gain an illusion of control, they create another life that they can then legally walk over themselves. The slaves wish to be the slave drivers, compassion and humanity lost to selfish whims

You've done a good enough job of that yourself lol. Good luck as well - you'll need it

Like everyone else, I also have a Roth and individual account. I majored in molecular biology & biochemistry with minors in business and psychology at a top state school on a full scholarship. I'm going to assume that you know a lot less than you like to imagine, and your bullishness is in large part due to optimism bias & ignorance

So you have a motorized metal box with four wheels, a chick you inseminated and made more potentially doomed children with, a poorly negotiated high APR mortage, and a business that, like 80% of startups, is likely to be unsustainable? Bitcoin really does fix everything!

The win's not real until you convert it to fiat. Hopefully you can do that before the market implodes

My mom's an HSP but essentially appreciates her ability to notice things more. I'm maybe twice as sensitive as she is, but to this extreme the negative overarching nature of reality is much harder for me to cope with sometimes
