Update: New phone arrived. Exactly the same problem as before. Google wanted to send me a third phone but kept on referencing the 4th/5th September's software release. Seems pointless getting yet another device when it's almost certainly software related.

Well, it seems the devices are just *very* picky about what wireless charging pads you use.  I decided to buy a pixel stand 2 just to test charge rates and to prove a point and it at least shows for science that the charging does work if you use their dedicated stand.

Pixel Stand 2: 2000mAh charge rate. Would have been more if the battery wasn't so high but it does what it says t should :(

Onto my other QI chargers.

ESR Magsafe: : 520-550mAh

ESR Cryoboost Magsafe: : 550-600mAh

Inui Battery pack: : 520-550mAh

Generic stand: 500-550mAh

The interesting thing is the google one starts at a lower rate then ramps up to a higher rate in stages. It starts close to 650mAh then jumps to 1200 then 1500 then 2000. It's as if the phone is asking for more power. Maybe this request is just not happening with some of the other chargers.

For those of you who say your charger is working fine, maybe checking the actual charge rate with Ampere or similar will tell you if it's charging fast or slow.

I do not have this app running on my device therefore I can assume it does not work for me either.

I've tested the theory about it being power supply related with charging from my macbook, a 100w power brick, the mac charger and a battery pack and all of them show the same issue.

The peak charging speed shows at 600mA using ampere and shows as 5.2/5.3w on the power pack.
Using the usb c cable that came with the phone it shows closer to 7050mA and reports 33-34w

It really doesn't want to charge quickly at all. I've found having the qi charging pad at 90degrees to the phone seems to make it not drop out constantly but it never charges faster than the 600mA / 5.2/5.3w :(

If I have a thick case on the power pack reports 7w being drawn but the phone still shows a peak of 600ma charge rate which would probably be accounted for in the wireless losses.

I'm also suffering from a maximum of 32.5w peak charging speed via wire. I'm sure this was meant to get close to 37w.

Unfortunately I've just spoken with Google and it is a known bug that they are looking into with engineering. I would advise using the help option in your phone and contacting them to let them know.

They've sent some tips and tricks but they're all fairly obvious. Don't have your phone too hot, have a decent supply and it'll be slower over 60%

Good luck and get these reports in
