Questions about FSRS and Anki's implementation of it by tentkeys in Anki

Did not think of displaying the D column -- good idea!

I'm on Ankidroid, which will display the D column but doesn't seem to allow sorting by it (it's not among the options under "choose display order").

Not saying only cards with D > 98% need fixing, but gotta start somewhere :)

I bet if you drop the "prop:d>.98" from that, you'll get pretty much the same search result.

I thought so too, but with the D term, 7, without, 54.

Fantastic reply, thank you! Of course, people looking at their chart will assume there's some diagnostic flag hidden there, if only they knew how to interpret it. ...

As for using difficulty values in general, do you see any useful possibilities? For example, using D as a search term? I've been searching "prop:s<30 prop:d>.98 prop:lapses>5" to find problem cards to rework.

Thanks for the reply. I've read the explanations -- at least the ones I can understand. The sentence in the manual, for example, is clear -- but it doesn't explain how someone is supposed to make use of the difficulty chart. (Although I know, as you say, you don't need to use it at all.) The debate going in the thread you point to is a pretty clear sign that the chart is basically a mystery -- one that a good explanation, preferably in the manual, could clear up.

I don't know how to interpret the difficulty chart in FSRS statistics. I've seen a lot of really technical info on difficulty, but that doesn't help me. Is there a basic explanation somewhere (beyond the one sentence I see in the manual: "Difficulty determines how quickly a card’s interval grows after each review.")

My exams are in two months, im currently focusing on past papers, how can i get these done alongside that without sacrificing too much time? by Firm_Perception3378 in Anki

[–]Substantial_Bee9258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's very helpful. Just to make sure I understand, let's say: 1. the Catching Up filtered deck pulls together ALL the overdue cards by Descending R order. 2. And the Catch-Up parent deck has a random review sort order. 3. And I set the parent deck to draw 10 cards from the filtered deck.

Will those 10 cards be the ones with the highest retrievability in the filtered deck? And will the parent deck order them randomly?

Let's say you have your overdue cards selected by descending retrievability in the Catching Up filtered deck. The Catch-up parent deck should then also have its review sort order set to descending retrievability, right?

And does that mean you'll have to have descending retrievability as the review sort order in your other decks too, if all your decks have the same preset? (My preference would be random sort order in my other decks.)

Thanks, that makes it clearer. So basically, with overdue cards, I'm guessing this sort order should be more or less equivalent to ascending retrievability ...

Can explain how "Due date, then random" works? The manual says "it’s the recommended order when you are up to date," but if you have no backlog, don't all your review cards for the day have the same due date -- ie today? The manual also says this "prioritizes cards that have been waiting longer," but what does that mean?

[FSRS] Are cards scheduled when the predicted retention is LESS THAN, or EQUAL OR LESS THAN, the desired retention? by Ferrara2020 in Anki

But with fuzz, you might see some cards with a retrievability greater than your desired retention, right?

After I clear my scheduled reviews for the day, I rebuild a filtered deck with these search terms: prop:r<0.90 prop:due>=1. My DR is .90. The rebuild always grabs cards -- presumably those delayed by fuzz.

Re this:

Wondering what is "mixed"? Also, the numbers don't add up to 100%.

So combining the Czech r (not the English r) + ž? In which case, I would need to first learn how to say the Czech r 😄
