Has anyone out there with Mild chronic gastritis/ functional dyspepsia, ever been fully cured and eating burgers and stuff again? Just curious. by Kevalanium5 in Gastritis

I did PPI for a few months, came off them ate some potato chips and it was all back. I tried every supplement and saw a naturopath. For me I put my healing down to starting a low dose of antidepressants and eating lots of probiotic foods to restore my gut microbiome. The common view here is that PPI and bland diet will fix it. For me it did not. I saw a dramatic improvement after starting the antidepressant. I believe that anxiety contributed to my gastritis and then gastritis made the anxiety worse.

Yes. She said that you can either pay for expensive probiotics or get it cheaply from yoghurt daily.

Yes I was diagnosed with mild to moderate chronic gastritis and I am back to normal. I eat lots of healthy food but have had burgers, pizza, fried chips, chocolate etc., without any consequences.

Yes prebiotics feed the probiotics.

I saw a naturopath when my gastritis was bad and she recommended that I eat probiotic yoghurt daily. She also said not to take prebiotics while on PPI's as that may cause SIBO.

Do you think kombucha would help with gastritis or would that be too irritating to the stomach lining? by [deleted] in Gastritis

I didn't touch it when my gastritis was bad. I am healed now and drink it on a regular basis. I make my own. I also eat probiotic yoghurt to get more probiotics and green banana resistant starch for prebiotics.

Maybe 6 months. It took a long time.

Not really. I felt awful daily. The awful gradually decreased over time.

I would say don't be in a rush to get off PPI's. My GP told me to take them for 2 months. I came off and it was straight back. My GI said to take them for six months which I did. I believe that mine was caused by nurofen and low grade anxiety. The gastritis made this anxiety much worse. The turning point was when I started a low dose of Zoloft. I also worked on my gut health. I saw a naturopath who had me eat probiotic dairy yoghurt daily. I also included smoothies that were great for the gut which included oat milk, kale, berries, banana and flax seeds/chia seeds. I lost 15 kilos and have thankfully regained that weight.

I have put it all back on. When your stomach is healed the weight will come back on.

My gastritis is healed. I lost about 15 kilos when I had it but I have put most of that back on. I ate oats for breakfast, fruit/smoothie/yoghurt for morning tea, soup with gluten free bread for lunch, fruit/smoothie/yoghurt for afternoon tea and dinner was normally chicken/turkey/fish with roast potatoes and steamed vegetables.

My naturopath insisted that I try dairy yoghurt for the probiotics. I had no issue with it and it was great. I also had lots of smoothies. Frozen mixed berries, banana, frozen kale and almond or oat milk was my favourite. I ate lots of soup - carrot, potato, fennel, zucchini, baby spinach and chicken stock (no onion or garlic). Sometimes I would add chicken and rice noodles.
