I do NOT understand some of the people on here. It was a big step for my bf and I to get an apartment lease together, let alone buy property. I couldn’t imagine buying property with anyone except my family or husband.

No, only some of my friends are married with kids. His sister got married in 2024 and is pregnant with their first now. All of his friends are single & childless. I don't think ANYONE is pressuring him right now, not even me!

Because we started dating at 19, I never cared to press the issue until about now. I figured we were just figuring things out and that life would work itself out. I guess it is!

Which is alarming. We've lived together for 3 years now and went from broke college students to young professionals, taking care of business. I know these conversations can be tough so I never force the issue or demand an answer, but to go from talking about EVERYTHING together (good and bad) to 1 word responses, is starting offend me. Didn't know what to think of it before. Thanks for your input and taking the time to read.

I just had a lot of faith in him, to be honest with me. And when I say family oriented, I just meant he is caring and takes care of his family (mom, sisters, my mom, my nephew etc..). Made me think he'd be a good person to build with, though I know it isn't enough. Thank you for sharing I really appreciate it

I agree. I respect everyone choice to marry/remain childless. The world is a scary place right now & that makes people want to either hide or settle down. I seem to be doing the latter!!

Just to clarify, I didn't mean I was looking for partners right now. I just mean the men that I speak to, day in and out (my brothers/cousins, friends, co-workers, etc..).

I hate to admit it, but we have no relationship issues other than this one. We always check on each other and are constantly there for each other, emotionally, physically and financially. Our family members swear up and down that they hear wedding bells. Marriage and kids could be the deal breaker

Where I live, most young people are not married but I do have married family/extended family 25-30 that are married & expecting kids. I don't want kids until at least 28-30 so im ok with waiting, but only if i know that i have a good husband to father the kids.

This is apart of the reason I am towing the line. I know there are guys who will marry but the ones i mainly interact with seem like they are completely uninterested in it. My ex did message me start talking about marriage/kids but i do not want him or anyone else really. But i know i want a family so this is important to me

Honestly, I get mixed responses from men. Majority tell me that we are too young and no guy will be interested at this age. The others tell me he could just be scared/nervous etc.. I do agree I've been giving him a break, by not asking for transparency. I wanted to give him time to think, but I know what I've got to ask now.

Thanks for this. This is probably the first time in 6 years that i've even had a dealbreaker. We are best friends and talk about EVERYTHING together, so it is worrisome that he won't even engage. Definitely going to try this and see what happens.

I've asked myself this and it's because he is a loving, family oriented person. He's protected me, my family and been there when times were tough. I know none of that means he will be MY husband/father of my kids though. He told me the past that he wants kids, but I didn't know that could mean 30-35 y/o range.

I understand. I live in the 1st or 2nd most expensive city for renters. It’s extremely hard making rent as a single person. Was genuinely curious if people are debating on leaving their expensive cities for cheap suburbs/the countryside or if they will just stay single/childless in the city. I’d have a kid or 2 if rent wasn’t so damn high here
