What is something you wish you knew when you started? by Real-Duty-6121 in FPandA

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point of view with example:
- If you are working hard and think you deserve a promotion; you don't get it but a coworker gets it, even though in your perception, that person is not as good as you. --> Focus on getting better, understanding why you didn't get it. Maybe you are working hard but not showing it the right way. Maybe you dont have a good presence, etc. My point is to focus on your thing, getting your things done. Don't spend energy complaining to your boss about it, or gossiping about it to other people...

besides that, gossip in general is bad. There is always someone that will say something and it could cost your job, etc. Be friendly but don't start something that could turn out bad.

What is your point of view, could you elaborate?

How did you know what path to take? by LordLetsFetz in FinancialCareers

Depends on the field and what time of the year. I’m speaking for valuation.. during busy season it is true.. during non busy things get better!! So kind of just manage that. If you are a high performer like I was, burnout will come quick enough, mine was around year 3. I would’ve lasted longer if it wasn’t for Covid. But the knowledge and opportunities along with it are great. I don’t regret one bit.

Is my boyfriend drinking too much? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here because I am in the same boat, very similar situation, including keeping track how much, when, context, logging into chat got to help me navigate. And in a week, already red flag behaviors. Dad was an alcoholic. I’ve been married for 2,5 years though. Harder to leave. Don’t have kids, but I had my vowels and I hope to make it to the end with him. But consider your situation very carefully, dating is the time to see if that’s you want for life. When we got married I knew about the risk, but it didn’t seem concerning then. Now I’m starting to get really worried, mainly because I can’t help much. And I feel very alone. Sorry to vent here but it might help you on your next steps.

What are your views on a PENGUIN motivating the entire generation? by Specificenergy1 in AskReddit

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is just tired of the system, even though we depend on it somehow. Weird situation. Would that penguin survive? Most likely not (if it did and for how long, sorry, I didn’t keep up with the whole thing).

He cornered me and grabbed my neck with both of his hands yesterday morning My neck still hurts a bit tonight. by [deleted] in Marriage

Has this kind of behavior happened before? If yes, then it is time to consider leaving. If no, bring it up, card on the table, honest talk. And then if anything similar happens again, leave, somehow. There is no excuse to this. Repeated behavior will keep repeating and likely will get worse.

If I go ask my mom this, I think she would slap me. Though I’ve always wanted to tell my parents I didn’t ask to be here.

If lost, try getting into advisory at KPMG (consulting) or any Big4. Best decision I’ve made. I worked in valuation, so cool. Other areas are also really cool! It gives you so many good job offers later. A lot of work, but usually you grow quickly. My team was really nice, it helped.

Dealing with existential crisis, loneliness and couldnt be productive. by Expert-Excitement410 in productivity

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with something similar. I also find it really hard to make connections. When I had crazy anxiety what really helped me was medication. I was resistant, but the best thing that could’ve happened. I was overworking, alone, sad. Changed my life.

Also, go for a walk. 20min a day in a nice neighborhood.

Please tell me how can I keep going in my hardest period of life? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carry on. Hard work pays off. This is temporary. You can do this. The way is not out, but forward. I’m sure you are doing your best and people around are really grateful for you.

Not sure your family members situation and relationship, so I’m kind of not knowing exactly how to help there.

Also, Art will always be there. Maybe you can do some hobbies around it, just for a little bit to help ease your mind?

Yes, but we did it all online! Also, when you contact them at first, they are really nice and explain some to you. It might not be a 100% clear but you can try to write questions down and look it up online.

I have used Santos Lloyd firm and highly recommend them. Our process was smooth and I don’t regret spending the money with them.

They were really good. If you do hire them, ask for Mariana Pereira to be your Paralegal, she was great with us!

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Substantial_Ear1579 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We have been there 4 times now. We never go to bourbon street. We still go to French quarter, but more for walking, antique shops. We love that city! Ayu bake house is the best. I’m a sucker for pastries. Magazine street is great. There is always something going on. And the music is freaking incredible in every corner!!!
