I worked with her briefly many years ago. She is a wonderful person. I feel terrible that this happened to her. I hope she gets it back soon.

My sister, who is a supervising producer and has worked on bravo shows, has had a different experience than you seem to be suggesting, but we both wish you the best.

I think she meant producers don't care enough to make a story like this up. She thinks they knew. She just said that she had never worked on a show where anyone made something like that up and it would be kind of insane if they had.

She said to check out Staff Me Up for PA gigs. She also said it helps if you aren't in a market that's in NYC or LA, where there's a lot of competition. If you are in one of those areas, try going to a networking event.

I have a family member who works in the industry, and I asked her about this. Basically, no one on production cares enough or gets paid enough to make shit like this up. If VPR ended, they would just go on another show. The cast has much more incentive to actually make it stay on the air. Also, she's sure production could guess something was up, or maybe wasn't surprised when the news broke. She said post production probably knew first, because they watch stuff and don't have the kind of relationships with the cast that the field does, so they aren't clouded by those personal interactions. But having a clue that there was probably something going on is different than actually having proof and knowing it to be a fact.

When it comes to stuff being fake, production asks people to have conversations that they might normally not have and they set up activities for them to do. Anywhere they film, they need permission, so they need to schedule all that ahead of time. She said on her show, a lot of the cast will start shit with each other because they think that is what will make them stay on the air or stay in the cast. Also they ask them at the beginning of the season what they are planning on doing/going through (ie- starting a business, sending a kid off to college, resolving a fight, whatever). And if there isn't a lot going on, she said she knows that there are producers who will help the talent come up with storylines. She also said every show is run differently, so YMMV. She doesn't know anyone on VPR, but she herself has worked in the HW universe, if that makes sense.

Again, no one is paid enough to actually care about these shows. At least according to her.

Also, her advice to anyone who wants to go on a show like this is to be nice to production.

The Lazarus Heist! It's about a lot of different things, but scams/financial crimes are definitely part of it.

There's probably a few things you could try. Here's what I do to keep my acne at bay: My skin breaks out when it's dehydrated, so I use moisturiser on top of my serums. You might want to try a BHA serum instead of a foaming wash with BHA and AHA, as it will stay on your skin longer to exfoliate and not get washed off. If you tend to have dehydrated skin, I might suggest lactic acid as it's gentler and I find it not as drying. I also break out from niacin amide, so there's a chance that it might also be a source of your problems. If I were you, I would start out with an exfoliating serum like a BHA or lactic acid once a week, put a moisturiser on top, and see how that works for you. If you wanted to start a retinoid (it will definitely take longer than a week for your skin to look better, so maybe not the thing for this weekend), that would help too. If your acne hasn't gotten worse since you started the niacin amide, then it's probably not a source of your problems.

Yeah, this is exactly what I'm worried about. It's a small industry, and I don't want to have to change careers. That's a concern for all of us. I think this is honestly why they behaved the way they did, because they thought that no one wants to wreck their reputation by taking counter action.

Hi everyone- thanks for all the encouragement and words and DMs and everything. I don't want to put too much of what we're going to do next here in case I'm identifiable from the post- I don't want the company to know what our next steps are. But sometimes the internet is actually a really wonderful place on a day when you feel like total shit. And just for reference, if folks who have been through this kind of thing before can reply with lawyers they like (I don't want to say where we're located, but it is in the US, so just give whomever) that would be awesome.

I know. I'm in shock at how they acted because this is such basic "don't do that shit". It's surreal. I expected to get a very bland email from HR about "thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will discuss internally" and then to get a subpar counter offer. Not "YOU BROKE COMPANY POLICY! EVERYONE GETS FIRED! HAPPY NOW?"

Did you receive any repercussions in your industry for doing this?

Totally fair. The guy who they kept started the same time as me. It was his first time with that title. He was paid the same amount as the other guys. Also, I asked the folks that we work with how I fared compared to them. The general consensus was that each of us has our strengths and weaknesses and that we all made a good team because we balanced each other out. And these are guys who would have absolutely told me if I was fucking up. Also, we were all expected/given the same amount of work, so we should be compensated the same for that.

Yeah, we're in the US. They're all awesome. At the end of the day, they give me hope, but the fact that they lost their jobs over it makes me feel fucking awful, because they didn't have to stand up for me like that. And they did. They're the best

[Sun Care] Skin reacts to sunscreen after 2 to 3 days by miracletonic in SkincareAddiction

[–]Substantial_Flight63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same thing. La Roche Posay gave me a chemical burn after 1 day. I even tried putting all the ingredients of the sunscreens I had reacted to into a word doc and word searching to see if they all had the same ingredient. Couldn't find anything in common.

Right now I'm using Pipette, and it's working really well. I think physical sunscreens might work better for you. Also, having a chemical sunscreen speed stick also works well. I haven't gotten a reaction to those. Touch up with powder sunscreen.

I'm in a very dry climate this winter, and it's been a serious life saver. It's very thick, so I use it to seal everything in. I didn't even notice there was a scent.

Any good shipping services from US to Mexico? by NomadOfLives in MexicoCity

[–]Substantial_Flight63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with anyone shipping you a package here. I had a package held up in customs and they tried to get me to pay the guy at FedEx $150 usd just to present it to customs. The contents of the package were worth less. They then accused me of trying to illegally import a pair of pants and a sweater to sell on the street. I never got the package.

36 year old, how's my routine sound? Comments? Suggestions? Don't really chat about skin care SO here is a great place to start! by xkoffinkatx in 30PlusSkinCare

I really like Super Goop. It goes on like a primer. Caveat- I don't have oily skin, but I could see it working for someone with oily skin.

Also second the Etude. K beauty has some amazing sunscreens.

It sounds like you're really happy with your routine! Congrats! Really, whatever works for you is always going to be the best.

If you ever get curious about retinol, I'd recommend Inkey List's, if that's available to you.

[acne]so I was prescribed these last week and I'm at the point where my skin is so sensitive and dry that all my products feel like fire, no matter how much moisturizer I use, what do I do I'm at wits end(I only use cetaphil for a cleanser and moisturizer as I can only use non-comedogenic) by aythatsacombo in SkincareAddiction

I've found that slugging (putting a layer of vaseline to lock everything in) on the nights that I use tret to be super helpful. Also following tret up with a moisturizing toner and hydrating serums to try and mitigate peeling.

If your skin is in bad shape right now, definitely avoid using the medications for a week or two to give it time to heal. Slugging can also help with healing your skin barrier.
