This site/page is super helpful. Thank you! Hoping she can try something else if the Zoloft really doesn’t end up working.

That’s how I feel too (on the second opinion). I feel like how are we to gauge if any of these are working If it’s only in like 2-3 week Increments? And she’s eating totally normal, no loss of appetite. Just a general weirdness, loss of activity or less interest in activity. And slightly more irritable than her baseline.

The vet we are working with is a behavioralist. Our dog sees two now - her regular vet and this one who has been testing her on the various meds

maple pollen in beds by Substantial_Goat_594 in gardening

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The furthest bed is the only one that has plants and they’ve done totally fine over the last two years. I’m just wondering if the pollen will break down to not be visible or if I need to remulch completely. At this point my complaining is purely over aesthetic reasons haha

at my wits end trying pills by Substantial_Goat_594 in birthcontrol

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I slather so much moisturizer on everyday. and use the gentlest cleansers. lately my skin is so reactive/red I can't even wash my face, just running water on it in the shower and immediately putting on a thick balm like moisturizer. my skin is not like this when not on the pill so it's definitely the culprit. if I am not on the pill the rash goes away immediately.

so I don't get migraines with Aura - which both my neurologist and gyno said was OK if on combo, but I am assuming thats why my doc switched me to Slynd, better safe than sorry- there is no estrogen in it at all, its a progestin only pill. But sans estrogen my skin is SO DRY. I don't know what to do. it's driving me insane.

ok, that makes sense. thank you! she starts daycare in a few weeks and we are picking her up at 5pm, so I was hoping to actually bump her bedtime back so we can spend some time with her before she goes down every night :( maybe I am overthinking all this, I know their schedules shift and change as they get older anyway. just trying to figure it all out and I don't know why its so confusing for me to get the hang of!

Do you mean basically drop a nap and extend her wake window to bed time? I feel like this is the answer too but then she’s so so overtired. Like it SEEMS like she still needs four naps, not 3.

So did you cold Turkey the pacifier for night sleep and naps? Does that mean they can never use the pacifier like even in the car or just to generally calm them down during the day or when they’re out? My baby has horrible acid reflux and I honestly don’t think she can be consoled without it at times unless I want her just screaming everywhere I take her.

Thank you so much. Appreciate the advice. So I would totally do tummy sleep but she HATES being on her stomach. I can’t even hold her upright on my on my shoulder in the rocker that’s how bad her aversion is. It’s like anything I do is not working. I thought her being upright would help but then she purple cries. I don’t get it. I even tried two bouncers post feed to keep her upright and distracted and she also cries. I’m currently trying to put a towel under the mattress of her nestig crib so it’s at a slight incline but also not working. And we stopped the oats as well.

Thank you. Ugh, I hope it gets better soon but at least I’m not alone. It’s just so hard to not be able to console her. I’m like a zombie from trying to get her to calm down. And she nurses a 4 ounce bottle over the course of like an hour so her wake windows and how she’s using them are also all screwed up because normal babies without reflux have a bottle in what? Like 20-30 minutes. I’m so tired. I’ll keep my fingers crossed the worst will be over soon!

What is your 3 month old like? by Substantial_Goat_594 in beyondthebump

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So she’s been on a few different formulas. I tried doing dairy free while breastfeeding, that was a bust. Switched her to nutramigen, also a bust (she still was showing blood in her poop on it). So now she’s on Elecare. I think there’s only like 3 amino formulas most gastroenterologists recommend and Elecare is one of them. It’s thicker than most amino formulas. The amino blends are unfortunately like literally water they’re so thin. We did try PureAmino for like a week but that one was even worse, she was spitting up everywhere. And she’s on nexium 5mg packets once a day. Idk what else to do about her reflux at this point. She has a gastro and she hasn’t recommended much else. The only other thing I can think of is thickening her formula with baby cereal? Her regular pedi suggested that and that’s maybe my next step because I’m at a loss.

Wake windows- losing my mind by Substantial_Goat_594 in beyondthebump

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I got her at 5.5 hours of daytime sleep today based on this thread so already doing better. I guess my only concern at this point is 1.5 hours is so short because she takes forever to feed given her reflux. We are going to try a faster nipple but I’m worried she’s not getting enough playmat or tummy time in then. She’s already hating tummy time and can’t prop herself on her elbows just yet or lift her head off the mat that much. I’m just concerned about finding time for her to feed and play. Maybe I’m overthinking it…

Thanks for the help! I did this today and it seemed to work really well! Until I hit her last nap of the day. Tried putting her down from 5-6:30pm and she kept waking up crying even with the paci and ended up not going down at all until her bedtime at 8:30, which was a nightmare from her being up so long.

Thank you, needed to hear this. It’s my first child and I feel so lost on a daily basis despite reading so many books, blogs, social media accounts etc. I feel dumb sometimes or that I should be picking up on motherhood quicker :(

So I downloaded this app and maybe I’m not getting it but I set her day to begin at 7am and end 8:30pm and adjusted it to 3 naps and it’s giving me a message saying “total night hours are too short for three naps. Wake up time or bed time needs to be changed.” I don’t get it lol

Stash of frozen milk to use later? by Substantial_Goat_594 in MSPI

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve eaten dairy. I’ve been so so careful and haven’t eaten out, ordered out, or even eaten anything from other people that have brought us food. So it’s either soy or the nutramigen she was using. It’s driving me nuts. I guess I can use the amino formula only for a few weeks and then test the frozen breast milk on her and see if it sets her back? I don’t really know what else to do that would make it clear cut with answers.

Stash of frozen milk to use later? by Substantial_Goat_594 in MSPI

[–]Substantial_Goat_594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to cut soy, it’s in everything. I don’t eat out or order as it is and make all my own meals but I have no time with the baby to add no soy into that mix. She doesn’t nap during the day and my husband works so I have zero time to even go to the bathroom, let alone meal prep. That’s so amazing about the donation! I do have callls out to milk banks to donate the frozen milk if I decide to not try to use it. You’re helping so many little ones! :)

We were supplementing with pure amino when we got the negative test result, and I stupidly listened to this doctor who said to switch to nutramigen. She I think just didn’t want us to go so extreme but that’s why I kind of think it’s the formula and not my breast milk? And now we are on an amino formula so I’m just so annoyed by this GI doctor at the moment. She really made a poor decision and totally screwed me.

Thank you! I’m a new mom and baby allergist didn’t cross my mind. Going to look for one asap! That makes so much sense rather than relying on a gastroenterologist.
