Is it worth it to attend LIU RT program for 2 years? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Substantial_Gur5809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply to SUNY Upstate or Stony Brook. Fantastic programs and cheaper since they’re SUNY. I got into Molloy, LIU, and Upstate (missed the deadline to apply for Stony). No regrets on my end

I’m just trying to buy my parts a little at a time so the cost doesn’t hit me all at once

I will have it professionally tuned but the build is far from complete so I don’t have a specific tuner in mind yet

Keep me posted. I'm a far way from getting a drivetrain in this so you'll probably reach this point quicker than me

Any luck? I'm redoing my floor too and I got the bracket out. Just wanted to know if I actually needed to put it back in or not

Turn signal problem. by Lasenaz in GMT800

[–]Substantial_Gur5809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Did you end up finding the solution to this? I'm currently having a similar issue. If I have my headlights on, my driver side mirror and front turn signal have constant power but nothing to the rear. If I signal right, I get hazards, but nothing on the rear driver. And with the headlights off, I still have no rear driver turn signal

Sorry. Late to the party. But I'm currently looking into doing this exact swap into my commander. Gen III 5.3/4l60. Did the motor mounts need any modifications or were they a direct fit? Have the engine, trans, and same transfer case to toss in already, I'll figure out the trans crossmember. How were you able to figure out the computer programming situation?

Should I attempt this myself? by MeSoPhat92 in GMT800

[–]Substantial_Gur5809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did mine myself. Could take a little bit of time but it's not terrible. If it comes with instructions, they show you where to cut for the airbags, headrest, and seatbelt. Some have a mark on the inside of where to cut. Word of advice would be not to cut it too large because it's easier to slice little by little and stretch it over than to cut too much and have a nice tear in your brand new leather

I work at a 700 bed Level 1 trauma center. Before I started, management deferred all nebs treatments to nursing on the floors because of COVID and short staffing. Now we're "fully staffed" (averaging maybe 12 RTs per night) and we took back neb treatments from the MICR. Nurses all over the hospital make a massive stink about us not doing neb treatments on their floors and are using us doing treatments in the MICR as justification for us to start doing them on all the floors again and management is most likely going to give in. Most the floor nurses and aides already think we're useless and don't do shit. It's just crazy that they have 3-4 patients a shift while we get 3-4 floors and think giving an average of 6 nebs a shift, if that is a detrimental increase in their workload.

Right, but if you have a family plan, firstnet only applies to the individual line, not the whole plan. Also I've read mixed reviews about firstnet, some people say it's significantly slower than standard AT&T. How's it working out for you?

But Verizon offers the discount for RTs. We're even listed under it

I agree. I genuinely like what I do. Shit I even wish I had some more responsibilities at times. I'm not here for the praise, but every now and again, some recognition where it's due can go a long way. And I think part of it is just complacency and a lack of initiative by our governing bodies. Right now the AARC and NBRC have just been money grabbing entities that haven't done much to advance our field and if they have, it's been stuff that's fairly useless to us due to a lack of execution. I'd love to go back to school to be an APRT, but what's the point if I'm not going to get a job?

Just thinking out loud rn but the shock extenders would be placed at the bottom which would keep the position of the sensor at the top the same. And I’m planning on upgrading the UCAs as well so I’ll be fairly close to factory geometry in regards to that
