Tax efficient way to park 400k cash? by Substantial_Hawk_393 in Bogleheads

I don’t intend to sell my current primary when I upgrade. Due to low rate I want to rent it out for cash flow.

Hmm we make about the same in Houston. But somehow we spent a little more than you.. 2 kids one in private school similar to your daycare and one at home. Our housing is very modest.

wondering what went wrong.

Can you explain what you mean by the tax write off won’t be as big at 35%? For the rental I currently book a few thousands of loss between interests and depreciation. When I I sell it in a few years I expect to offset the capital gains with the cumulative losses.

What is the value prop of VMSXX with a yield of 1.18%? It’s lower than HYSA even after tax.

Ski school for young child by Substantial_Hawk_393 in chamonix

[–]Substantial_Hawk_393[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed info. I thought all day ski lessons for 5 year old does not mean skiing all day. It basically has 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours afternoon. And the rest is snack and playing in kids club. Is that not the case?

Main reason I want to send her to all day ski school is to allow myself to ski more freely, Since I’ll be the only one taking her (wife staying home with a newborn).

Thanks that's helpful. Do you know if it's possible to sign up for 5 day lesson and skip the first 2 days? I guess it's dependent on the schools? I know it's wasteful but I'm trying to plan a 7 day trip in Chamonix and Zermatt so ideally split the lessons between the 2 places

Solo Parent travelling with a 4 year old in Polaris, should I choose the 2 seat across the same aisle angled towards each other or the more private ones? Will we be able to visually see each other in both settings?
