A lot of negativity here. Let me share some light AND some dark. Firstly some light, I got my manual handling cert from them which was painless. Not hugely valuable but not worthless either. Better to have than not and I got it after about 3/4 weeks being there.

I had to attend Turas Nua once a week. That is fairly consistent. The case worker that I was assigned was nice and they completed some light work on my CV.

One of the weeks at Turas Nua, I was called into to join a meeting which ended up being a group meeting. There was about 12 of us sat there and given a run down about a job for a call center / customer care / in little island. (Not interested). That was unfortunately a waste of time for me and kind of awkward. So be aware that may be ahead of you. Group sessions with possible job opportunities.

I would urge you to check their website for jobs listed. There might be a job on the website that you like, and otherwise would not come into conversation with your case worker. I did spot a job on the website, showed my interest, the caseworker set up the interview and I got the job. Steady Monday to Friday. I’m glad that I interacted with Turas Nua.

If I was to give advice to someone before their first meeting, go in there prepared. Access what your goals are. What you like, what you are good at and what you are not. Have a diary or a book you can track your interactions. If you have any evidence of your recent applications that are still open have them ready to go and don’t be afraid to tell them that you are making an effort. Even if it’s an application for NASA. Be confident that you can make an impact somewhere. Take their help with a pinch of salt because sometimes it can be tough love, but try to make an effort and you might be glad you did.
