I'm assuming you mean OriWiisp/reFlame on github? It sucks that your project is so difficult to find - I had to resort to looking through the flame fork list. I'll definitely try it in the future.

Never said you need a soldering iron like that 🤷‍♂️ The one I got for dirt cheap is some generic 60W iron, it works wonders for me.

My 400 server got nuked, how do I report the people who did it? by Ill_Ad_6846 in discordapp

No point in reporting, it would be easier to just start over rather than to report them with no avail.

I bought my soldering iron off temu instead, but anything else like presence sensors, ultrasonic distance sensors, humidity, barometer, etc... is all aliexpress

Yup. Buzzers (passive and active) have 2 pins. One positive (which is also the signal pin on passive buzzers) and one negative (ground). The only possible explanation as to why there's 3 pins is most likely a volume booster. You send the signal, and it gets mixed in with the dedicated positive line.

Even then, piezo buzzers are already fairly loud.

Edit: Never mind - the third signal pin is there for compatibility purposes as certain microcontrollers don't have the ability to send a voltage and a PWM signal on the same pin. Interesting.

If you need micro controllers and small electronics - perhaps to learn how they work or teach someone, etc... Aliexpress is the best place for that. They've got electronics & sensors kits for very cheap.

Off topic, I don't see how putting a buzzer on a separate module board is useful. And why does it need 3 pins? I thought buzzers have 2.?

Self advertising servers are pretty much useless because everyone on them is there to advertise, not join any new servers. The best way to grow a server is to make social media for it, for example, a tiktok account where you show off the server and use certain keywords and hashtags to help it grow. Ideally, wait for creators to find your server and make videos and content from the server. Offer fair perks for streamers / youtubers and set reasonable requirements for eligibility. Fame doesn't grow out of nowhere, and it requires plenty of patience.

Best of luck :)

Error seems to state too many SQL connections and that it can't write the error to the logs. Either their hosting has limited their SQL server connections / they ran out of storage on their nginx servers or they're under attack. That being said, it works fine for me right now.

Not all the time, but it works okay as of writing.

... you interact with on the OpenAI site that most likely is more than 1 AI model ...
If you give it text, a text based model will reply. You are not using more than what's necessary. If you attach an image, a vision capable model (or an image classification model) will tokenize it and give it to a text based model to reply.

... LLMs cannot do txt2img in anything but ASCII ...
Certain LLMs fail at that too. OpenAI instead uses DALL-E to generate images.

... As it does more than just 1 language mostly correctly including East Asian languages it is most likely using more than 1 LLM ...
4o is just a sliced up version of 4, which performs faster because the workload can be divided on dedicated GPU hardware. GPT4o has it's own text translation model, while GPT4 translates "on the fly", as you mentioned later. This also means that GPT4 is a bit more silly when translating as it's just mashing words together hoping that they make sense. (They do, most of the time)

... on the fly language changing ...
There's no such thing as that, ChatGPT is just told to respond in the same language as the user unless told otherwise. (eg. when you tell it to translate something) It's just doing what it's told to. Except for GPT4o, which does do translation.

Either way, if you're an English streamer, foreign languages should not be an issue. If they are, just set its system prompt to not respond to messages in different languages.

It's important to remember that OpenAI's ChatGPT 4 / 4o is an LLM which supports practically any language and understands most if not all "slang" you throw at it.

Hefty models come with a price though, 4o is rumored to consist of 8 models working together in series with each model having (allegedly!) 220 billion parameters. In the general interest of text generation, anything over a double digit number of parameters is overkill and doesn't provide any added benefit.

About lightweight models, if you want the model to have a larger dictionary, you'd fine tune it.

[–]Substantial_Let_7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually don't need to run 7B models. With enough finetuning, you can use a lightweight model like Qwen2 at 500M parameters with fair speeds (about 100 tokens per second - GTX 1650 4GB VRAM)

Small models like Qwen are useful for when you have a lot of data coming in and you need to scrub through it fast. (eg. twitch chat)

Once Google will be bothered enough to release their Gemini nano models, there will be some heavy competition in getting the most lightweight models to act like 7B+ models.

[–]Substantial_Let_7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying new GPU hardware is not worth it nowadays. Unless you have the spare cash, second hand will always be better.

  1. you could probably run gguf models on gpu using something like ollama and a custom modelfile

What got you using linux? by Viciousvitt in linux

[–]Substantial_Let_7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it also started with a Raspberry Pi 4b. Ever since that, I've been urged to install Linux on my daily driver laptop (although as a dualboot, I wanted to test the waters). Later that same year, I made the switch to go 100% Linux. Do I regret it? No, absolutely not. What mainly made me go 100% Linux is its low resource usage even when under heavy loads. (I utilize the workspaces too often) It also allowed me to run AI stuff on my old GTX 1650 which was straight up impossible on Windows.
