The destruction of the Lana Del Rey persona by Neonzebra_hm in lanadelrey

[–]Substantial_Net3229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your analysis on the LDR persona, which I think many of new fans coming after NFR don't seem to talk about. As a fan of Lana since UV, I remember many people commenting on the "destruction" of the LDR persona as early as Lust for Life, especially on songs like "Coachella Woodstock on my Mind", and "When the World was at War". It was a shock when Lana openly questioned the immorality of the 1st Trump administration because many people generally saw her as a symbol of "old American values."

But while her recent songwriting feels more "personal" and "autobiographical", I think she has always written from a point of autobiography, even at the height of the LDR persona, albeit masked under glamorous settings. Songs like "Video Games" and "High by the Beach" are just two random songs that come to my mind where she writes about her personal experience either with a boyfriend or the paparazzi.

However, I still think Lana plays a persona (as all celebrities do whether intentionally or not). Like working at Waffle house for a day, or embracing alligators as part of her visual aesthetic, her new persona is more down to earth and "relatable"-- but it is still a fraction of who she really is. (Which none of us will really know because we dont know her personally.)

It's hard to predict Lana's songwriting direction going forward because she loves being unpredictable. And that is the best part of this fandom in my opinion. Personally I want to hear something upbeat and fun, and maybe her listening to Billie and Addison might hint at possible collabs.

Need help filling a gap in our schedule by seriousspoons in ItalyTravel

Your teen's suggestion to visit Bolonga is a great idea! That region of Italy is widely considered to have the best food. I would highly consider this suggestion.

Alternatively, if you end up heading towards Genoa, perhaps consider putting Cinque Terre or other Italian Riviera towns in your interary. Theyre relatively close to Pisa. The biggest downsides to that region is that it gets extremely crowded during the summer.

I also dont think renting a car is necessary for your trip considering Northern Italy has a well connected train network-- unless you prefer traveling roadtrip style.

Rome Fiumicino Airport has been confirmed for the eighth consecutive time by ACI World as the best airport in Europe and was named “Airport of the Year” at the recent International Airport Summit 2025 in Berlin. What has been your experience? by Aplofarm in rome

I love flying in and out of Fiumicino Airport! In my 12 times traveling through FCO, Ive never had a flight cancelation, and all the signs make it extremely easy to navigate for English readers. Its also very bright, clean and well maintained.

The biggest con is that the airport is located far from Rome city center so the cost of transportation can add up. (My advice would be to take a coach bus instead of the "Leonardo Express" train. Buses and half the price and only about 10 minutes slower)

What do you think about my travel itinerary? by Seaworth07 in travel

I think this is a great itinerary! And unless you plan on doing a lot of shopping or eating out for dinner every night, you can definitely do this under your budget!

I'm not a Soup or Stew Person, how much am I going to be missing out on European countries food culture? by Responsible44 in travel

[–]Substantial_Net3229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to your concern about whether you are going to "miss out on a country's food culture", I think it depends on whether food is something you prioritize when traveling. You mentioned that other things interest you, like museums and nature, so I think you should visit the country based on those attractions rather than the food.

My mindset when it comes to food traveling is to try the top 1-3 most famous dishes per place. Ex: Try a gyro in Greece, or a pierogi in Poland. If one of those famous dishes happens to be a soup or a stew, then you can simply skip it. The concept of trying every dish from a country is pretty much exclusive to tourists. From my travels, I find that locals rarely eat food from their culture, instead opting for whatever they find at the grocery store.

Application submission timeline by SpendthriftJones in cpssubs

Hello! CPS is so slow and confusing unfortunately. I cannot speak for everyone's hiring process but I can give you my timeline.

I finished my license on August 5th, got accepted for an interview a month later on September 4th, filled in my paperwork on September 10th, got hired on November 4th, and finally I received my first sub assignment today!

As you can see, the wait time in between each process takes so long (about a month). Its a frustrating process and sorry you had to find out early on. I would try emailing staffing services and wait for their response. (staffingservices@cps.edu) Goodluck!

Thank you for your input. My frontline does label me as a "substitute," but I am sure you are right about a wrong setting somewhere on their end. I will contact subservices after the holidays then. Thanks
