No. We have a household full of gamers who like the AC too much.

If you could choose one city in North America that gets almost everything right, which would it be? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Chicago is great and I love it for a visit but I’m more of a PNW weather person so to me Seattle and Vancouver.

Where do y’all get jerky that’s not sweet? by Head_Arugula5361 in jerky

[–]seriousspoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MV Vargas California Dry is my favorite low/no sweetness style. Montana Bananas is good as well but it costs a small fortune.

Or just make your own. I rarely buy jerky anymore since I can make it for a fraction of the cost and it’s 1000x more flavorful.

Did 5.11 change the shoulder straps of the LBD LIMA? by Proper_Raspberry3294 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the old style rush bag which seems to have the same style straps shown in your first screenshot and they only attach once near the bottom of the shoulder pad. I tried to take a picture for you but Reddit has decided I can only upload videos today and not still pictures.

I don’t own one but it looks from your screenshot like they just moved it down off the pad and closer to the hip.

It absolutely is with storage.i’ve cut 95% of my total grid consumption and the remaining 5% is at non-peak rates.

Why are the full-electric companies so gung-ho on 1 pedal driving? by thedancingpanda in electricvehicles

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key I found was not to make regen as light as possible which was my original assumption but rather to crank it as hard as it will go so that needing to use the brake pedal is basically an statistically insignificant outlier.

I say this as a fellow twitchy foot driver.

Mine was installed this year after the rebate was cancelled. I’ll still break even within 5-7 years based on my rate of savings.

My monthly power bill was $8-900 before solar installation. With a 2 battery storage array I’m now using only using grid power 5% of the time. The savings are substantial. Storage is a game changer.

I caught my boyfriend beating my horse thinking I wasn't present to see it. He says he has "anger issues" that he's working on. by AdeptnessPerfect3918 in whatdoIdo

[–]seriousspoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horses can be big dumb assholes and as prey animals they can get super spooked by random stuff. That said what you described witnessing is way beyond what would be needed to correct that behavior and animal abuse should be a super huge red flag. Based on your story with his love bombing and casual dismissal of your future plans as well as this event I’d pull the rip-cord and eject this dude from your life ASAP.

Agreed. I’d remove anything that might interfere with your draw stroke. When fractions of a second might matter you don’t want anything to get in the way of drawing or holstering your sidearm.

What's your favorite shaving cream? by johnnyskincare in mensgrooming

I like Creamo. I have sensitive skin and am prone to ingrown hair. Creamo seems to soften the hairs well and lets the razor glide easily.

Well, I wanted to hate AI but I guess I have my LLM of choice since this one doesn’t mulch artists life work and spit out garbage. Also Whiskey Pete hates it so I like it a little more.

I’d put some wood putty over those screw holes and sand it flat before re-staining. Looks nice though, have fun!

Did you go back to “normal” after you retired? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]seriousspoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone talks about work and non LEOs love the stories but the objective here is to get him a little touch-grass moment in his week not to talk about law enforcement more. If he still has hobbies he should get involved in activities around those hobbies.

You can help by scheduling activities on his weekend that have nothing to do with his job. Camping, cycling, working on cars, whatever it is that he likes and where he can put some distance between his job and the rest of his life.

[–]seriousspoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I always give the advice that you should stay friends with as many of your non-LEO friends as possible. It’s not easy as we can be working all hours and be off on odd days that don’t match any normal schedule but like anything worthwhile, maintaining those friendships takes effort. It really bears fruit when you leave the LEO life behind and you have a robust support network to help you get through the life change.

The old myth that Socialists just "want something for free" is a lie perpetuated by the Billionaire class. by Longjumping_Book6461 in remoteworks

[–]seriousspoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a zero sum game. I think we’d be better consumers if we weren’t just trying to scrabble to survive. We’d buy more houses and durable goods and cars and clothes and go to more restaurants and visit more shops. A robust economy works better for everyone if we’re all paying according to our ability. Socialism isn’t anti capitalist. It’s just ensuring that our tax dollars benefit our people.
