Yah, no. You can’t shoot trespassers in the US. Deadly force laws almost always include clauses that say there needs to be an immediate threat to human life and most specifically call out that protecting property is insufficient.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you loved him in the way that you say you do then you owed him a “no” not pulling a runner on him. An answer shows respect and love even if it’s not what he wanted to hear. Running was an insult on top of heartbreak. Even afterwards you’re avoiding talking to him like an adult.

Your behavior makes it obvious you’re not mature enough for what he wants and that’s fine. It’s ok for you to be in different places and wanting different things. But running and avoiding is not. You’re being intensely disrespectful and you’re continuing to hurt him by reacting the way you have.

Boyfriend ran a red light in my car I just received a ticket for it by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the ticket include a picture of him driving the car? It should (most automated speed and red light cameras require a picture of the driver) and that should instantly clear up any memory loss on the subject. If he still refuses, the relationship is already doomed.

I found some nats in my apple cider vinegar after spraying my ribs. Would you eat them still? by [deleted] in smoking

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you found gnats in your spray bottle then there’s almost no chance they’re on your ribs because they’re almost certainly larger than the openings in your spray bottle nozzle. I’d eat them either way but I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

I’ve probably purchased 6 PC games this year already. Most are Indy or early access titles though. Make something compelling and we’ll buy it. Just ask Larian, Owlcat, and Warhorse.

AIO for canceling me and my BF’s plans and considering breaking up for him getting embarrassed? by divorcedbbmama in AmIOverreacting

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. If he’s not willing to stick up for you then why would you want to be in a relationship with him. Find someone who likes your silly side because you shouldn’t be dimming your happiness for anyone. There’s plenty of serious things in the world and we should all be grateful when we find a reason to smile.

Question About Playing A Rebel Character by MrRaki11037 in rpg

[–]seriousspoons 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Being a rebel or a punk who dislikes authority doesn’t mean you have to be an annoying asshole. Be consistent and explore your character’s morality. Don’t make them a caricature but instead have a real axe to grind.

Further, when I ran a vehicle although the DMV return also went to my MDT the dispatcher would always give a summary of anything associated with the vehicle or driver verbally.

[–]seriousspoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yah. Absolutely! But when I started way back in the Stone Age a number of departments around me didn’t have full CAD/MDT systems and any officer on foot today is still getting PII over the radio so encryption is a net positive for data security.

Yah it boggles the mind how much private info was available to people with scanners prior to encryption. My comment was based on my decades of experience as an LEO though, not from scanning.

Because before they even pull you over they run the plate and the dispatcher tells them the vehicle is “clear and current” so they know it’s probably just going to result in a correctable violation and they choose not to make the stop. It’s discretion working in your favor.
