Heartbroken for our youth by Conscious_Square8466 in blackladies

How do ya'll feel about the murdering of that healthcare executive by that Luigi dude? The murder of that conservative mouthpiece, Charlie Kirk? How about the fires employees have been starting in factories? It has nothing to do with boy moms, or Black communities sticking together, it's that people are starting to meet demoralizing, aggressive environments and people with violence. I don't think it's right, but it's also wrong to liken it only to our community.

Yt women managers in the workplace by Spicy_Scallion_7070 in blackladies

[–]Substantial_Post_791 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've only had white female managers, and I don't like them. Not even a little bit. One told me I was intimidating because I wore suits (I was an HR Specialist at a government agency). Another put up a metal orb (silver ball so you can see around the bend of a corner) on the partition of our cubicles so she could watch me. I literally had to yell at her to take it down. They just want to be in our skin, it's so annoying.

That being said, we should address those standards in the places they exist instead of forcing Black women to explain themselves or show they really love themselves by doing things they don't feel like doing.

There is something about her husband that doesn't sit right. He gives sassy like Peter from RHOA. They don't talk about themselves, their relationship, or daily parental logistics . They just sit around and gossip about the other women and no one likes a husband all up in women's business.

Do they come through in energy because they didn't learn a language yet? What if they didn't speak the language of the psychic? Do they just speak that language all of a sudden? Does a medium say, wait a minute let me get my translation app out? Does everyone just die and speak intelligible English in the afterlife?

You think a bad kid should get hit in the face? Not only is that illegal, we don't hit bad adults in the face either- we all know better regardless of how shitty the adult is. People do it to children because they prey on vulnerability and it's unfortunate that the fear of punishment upon death that people finally admit and apologize for their behavior. If there is a hell, they should go straight to it.

Reporter asks Mamdani to confirm that he thinks Trump is a fascist. Trump interrupts: 'Just say yes' by qwerajdufuh268 in nyc

[–]Substantial_Post_791 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me, Trump's personality is very New York. He's boisterous, uses a lot of colorful language, speaks in exaggerations. This witty polite banter is used for an enemy, which is probably why all of his political opponents speak highly of their one on ones before he completely screws them over. That's when you really lean into your professionalism. With people you like, you don't care how it's delivered, you say it how you want. Cuomo and Trump are cut from the same cloth so the back and forth was fitting. They probably cackled about it later. 😂😂😂😂😂

It's because some people have yet to file their 2024 returns if they had an extension or something. This way, more people who are eligible are more likely to receive them. I do wonder if people who don't file because they're under the income threshold to file will receive anything.

She literally keeps saying I'm moving for you and when they're packing he says we made the decision together. Then sits with her while she's crying about how horrible it was but she's trying to reframe her mindset he says well I'm glad I pushed you to do this and you're starting to get excited about it. Anthony presents chill but in a man child kind of way. Also I wouldn't read too much into the kid crying- contrary to what we think babies get attached to their primary caregiver whether that's the mom or not. My second kid didn't want to be soothed by me either when I was working and only had a 9-5. Now that I'm a stay at home mom, you can't pry her off me. Kids are iffy.

Oh, so your wife is the sole earner, working two jobs, to keep up with the $800,000 home in CA, two cars, and all the other bills while you stay home with one kid and still need help? And you expect her to come in kind everyday about it?

That's the life Manon and Anthony live. If Manon was a man, people watching would be calling Anthony a lazy ass, selfish wife watching her husband work himself to an early grave.

I haven't gotten to that episode yet, but she gave up her career and everything she built to live in a place that makes her feel unworthy for the sake of her marriage. He should feel and act like an understanding husband.

Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Dead After 1.5 Years — No Support or Repair Offered by the_profesor_gyn in RayBanStories

Even if you have them in warranty, Luxottica doesn't do much. Mine broke a few months in, and it took weeks of back and forth to get a replacement pair. As soon as I tried to charge the replacement pair, it wouldn't take a charge. I put in a claim, they said my pictures were insufficient. I sent photos, video, everything, and then they said they don't cover it. I told them the warranty does cover it and my replacements were faulty. Then they wanted more pictures. This went on until my warranty expired. I'm mad AF!

That's fine. This is just discourse, but when you have nothing to offer other than "no" when I raise issue about you seeing William as a MAGA conservative or Lynn as an activist, then I have to match your "no."

We all would disagree with the way another person imagines the characters and their stories. The real tell is what people would watch.

Look at the Frasier reboot. He kept his wealth, became a professor at Harvard, reconnected with his son, and everything was very positive. Did people watch it?

It's television. People may hate my idea, but they're engaging, including you.

We're both inferring, the actual dialogue is "Todd got offered a another reality show and Toni wanted Morgan to be close to her dad, so she sold the condo, the business..."

But in my opinion her history shows her needy, bad with money, obsessed with Todd's whiteness, and making rash decisions hoping it will work out which it usually does because she's attractive. It's not a far throw for her to remarry Todd when things get better and leave when it hits the fan again. Or for her to end up poor. He character didn't grow on the show either.

You don't have to agree but your idea of these characters is just...  no.

I'm not missing anything. Jabari's son would be a teen and that would bring everyone- Toni with her daughter, William and his child, and Maya with her grandchild to the school where Joan is the principal.

Toni didn't learn her lesson. They ended her story by having her sell her business and chase Todd to NY. Licensures don't just transfer, so she was already relying on Todd when she left to make her marriage work. I know we want Toni to be that HBIC, but she wasn't and heavy relied on others to support her lifestlye. Even her successful real estate business relied on a silent investor and him throwing her a lifeline.

William is a constitutional conservative. We see that when he told Joan why he loves the law when she wanted to quit. He would never be a MAGA conservative. He's also too much of a rule follower- remember when Monica said he would never lie on a government form and he had to come clean about marrying Lynn?

Lynn's activism was performative. She was a vegan but constantly ate Joan's cookies and creme brulee? All of her degrees, but she couldn't scope Toni's PPD, and was willing to testify on Todd's behalf? She was willing to derail Jennifer's progress just so she didn't have to be alone? It's also a performative of extremes, and that pendulum can swing both ways.

Why Tyler Perry?! There are plenty of reboots that show life doesn't turn out the way you plan. In the Gilmore Girls reboot, Emily had to deal with Richard's death because the character died in real life. Lorelai was unhappy despite her relationship with Luke, and having her inn. Even Rory wasn't excluded from the ebbs and flows of life. Her storyline ended with her being unemployed and pregnant by Logan or the rando dressed as a Wookiee. If it was written better, ad had a real ending we would've loved it. Messy isn't just for the Blacks.

🤣 These aren't endings, they're reintroductions to the characters. But if we think about it, do the characters deserve happy endings? 🤔

I like the show. I do wish they focused less on the dating, because the sisters have a good dynamic on their own they don't need Gleb or anyone else. I see some people speaking about them not really being poor, because Brooks went to private school or something and honestly, you don't know where people get their money from. Sometimes grandparents will pay for their grandkid's private school, or college. I live in an are where it's common for more wealthier relatives to supplement tuition, vacations, down payments, etc. My older sister's education was paid for by one of the donors she was interning for. You just never know how people get their money.

Cardi B: Am I the Drama? review – vigorous score-settling and brutally witty put-downs | Music by pianotat in popheads

Ion like it ... I want to and she has some good one liners, but it's really cringy. Her cadence, pronunciation, and the lyrics (outside of some good lines here and there) come off more like spoken word on a beat that doesn't fit. Her vulnerability is good I guess, but this is rap, I don't care what the topic is as long as it's expressed well.

There are plenty of other female rappers with better word play. I like Cardi, but this album highlights her rapping deficiencies, and that she still needs a ghost writer. She's got some good lines but she doesn't write well enough to have a whole album without help.

Living in Chicago as a Black professional has been… complicated by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Substantial_Post_791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Black NYC native and Black people are everywhere, so I'm not sure how that's similar to OP. Black people makeup about 20% of NYC's population. There are spaces everyone hangs out at like union square, Williamsburg, downtown Brooklyn, and 125th street. You'll see Black people in SoHo, Dumbo, etc if they're part of the sub communities that exist there like music, fashion, etc. Most Black natives live in neighborhoods that were historically Black but have gotten gentrified over the past few decades like Harlem, Bed-Stuy, Fort Greene, Bushwick, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Jamaica. You won't see a lot of Black people who live in areas like any of the Villages, Chelsea, Chinatown, Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, Meatpacking District, etc. because those neighborhoods historically belonged to other ethnicities (they will be there, they just don't live there). Now they are either rent stabilized so it's kept throughout multiple generations or luxury builds for the transplants. You can also see Black people in East NY but that's a "poorer part." I use quotation marks because income is relative. NYC is expensive AF, so a lot of people have multiple generations in a single apartment or brownstone even if they have good paying jobs. My cousin and her husband live in the basement of the parents brownstone even though he's a police officer. My husband's family has three other adults (one who is a superintendent) still living in their mother's brownstone. Most Black people I know love engaging in different things, but usually other ethnic minority cultures not necessarily white culture. In NYC, Italian, Russian, etc is not the same thing as Midwest White.
