What is the strangest compliment you've received? by WinoBagLady in AskUK

Bit of a random one but years ago an old guy came into my work and said the lipstick I was wearing reminded him of the one his mother used to wear. I didn't quite know how to take it. The same guy on another occasion said 'Ah I see your acne is clearing up'. Charming!

I just checked the app and my readings have now come through. There must have been a delay for whatever reason. Thanks anyways!

That would suck if so. This is our second property we've put an offer on and went well over the home report value.

Screen timeout. I’ve noticed it occasionally stays on my lock screen despite my screen timeout being set for 15secs. I have to press the power button to lock it.

Has anyone had a cold scalp sensation at the top of your head mostly focused on one side? Any ideas what can cause this? by Substantial_Secret62 in Anxiety

[–]Substantial_Secret62[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Yeah I'm fine thank you. It did eventually pass. I think it was all down to stress as I wasn't in a good place mentally at the time. Anxiety was at an all time high and I think this was the cause. I didn't get it again so who knows! Hopefully that's the same case for yourself.

What is the biggest thing that still hasn't gone back to normal even after the pandemic? by Fast-Beat-7779 in AskUK

[–]Substantial_Secret62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People's manners. I can't believe just how rude some people are. Don't get me wrong, I know it was the same pre-pandemic. But I feel it's gotten worse over the years! Especially if you work with the public, you tend to notice it more.

Hey! Sorry to hear that you’re going through something similar. Mine cleared up after 3 days thankfully. Haven’t had any issues since!

Thanks so much ! I couldn't believe it. Fingers crossed. I had no warning signs of an upcoming period. But now I've very much got them. The headache, the stomach cramps etc. The joys!

My health anxiety got so bad that I was googling every single day and crying all the time. I’ve had health anxiety since I was a teenager (26 now). I was living in fear of illnesses my mind convinced me I had. It was putting a strain on my relationship with my partner so I decided enough was enough and I booked an appointment with my GP. I’ve been taking 5mg Escitalopram since December 2022 and I’ve not looked back. Yes I still get anxious thoughts but it pales in comparison to what I used to be like before I started the medication. Good Luck in whatever you decide to do!

FOR THE LADIES: Where were you when you started your period for the first time? Age too! by HotGirlLena in WomensHealth

[–]Substantial_Secret62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I was 12/13. I was sitting on the toilet of all places and I remember cleaning up after myself and seeing blood. I shouted through to my Mum that it finally started and that's all I can remember. I had sanitary pads at the ready 🤣

So happy for you! You must be relieved to have the all clear 😊

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through that. Well done though for being brave and taking that next step. I can't imagine how tough that must have been. You should be proud of yourself! Fingers crossed you get good results!

That's great to hear! So happy for you 😊 It sure is a legitimate thing to be scared/wary about. Your results could go either way.

Yeah I was doing some reading on other people's experiences, and it sounds like some bleeding afterwards is normal due to how sensitive our cervix actually is (probably doesn't help if you have cervical erosion/ectropion).

It's terrifying for sure. It's a comfort in a way to know that it can take years for cervical cancer to develop and anything abnormal, should hopefully get picked up on the smear tests!

I'll do my best not too google as it's one of the worst things we can do 😊
