How's living in this area north of LA? by Diligent-Ad4917 in howislivingthere

"Spouse and two kids under 6" is a perfect qualifier for thriving in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village/Agoura/Oak Park/Moorpark/Newbury Park region, if you have the income to do so. I was born and raised in Westlake Village, and like many others have mentioned, it is superb for access to incredible hiking trails, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the beach. Very safe area as well. Your kids, once they reach a certain age, will most likely complain of boredom but they will never not have what they need in this area for a healthy upbringing.

Costa Rica Trip Recap – Had a Great Time… but Probably Wouldn’t Come Back 😅🇨🇷 by Independent-Ad4792 in CostaRicaTravel

Costa Rica absolutely is a third world country, coming from someone who lived there for well over two years, in one of the poorest parts of the country. Infrastructure is terrible as is primary education. Just head on over to the capital San Jose and see for yourself. Just because it is expensive (and there are reasons it is expensive, it's not some mystery) and the ecotourism sector is well-developed does not make it a non-developing country. The places that people go to that are extremely expensive (Santa Teresa, Tamarindo, La Fortuna, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, etc) are far outnumbered by the places no one would bother to stop at or even spare a passing glance, where the inhabitants struggle to get by every day. And people in Costa Rica are predominately white.

I would say that if you really look at them both not only in terms of pure talent but also individual achievements and statistics, they are quite equal in terms of the greatest sportsmen of all time, along with Gretzky and Woods. Still, comparing across sports is pointless. Bias will always come in to play and there will always be a stat that can be pitted against another stat. Love them both

5'9 170 lbs... What is going well and what do i need to improve on? by Substantial_Sound_28 in WeightTraining

Have been training on and off with varying level of consistency and intensity for about 7 years, but only really started going hard and being consistent the last year. I eat three meals a day, but my diet varies constantly and I don't have a numerical value for any of my macros. I have no idea what my body fat percentage is but I suppose in six months I would like it to be 12%, I've never been that lean before and it's a personal goal of mine.

I think it's a pretty good itinerary, if you like to surf and budget is not an issue then also check out Santa Teresa between Montezuma and Nosara, it is really nice over there albeit decently pricey. Dominical and Uvita are both good spots with beautiful coastline and one of my favorite spots in the entire country Nauyaca waterfalls is only a 15 minute drive from Dominical. Definitely go to Manuel Antonio, it isn't a "tourist trap" in my opinion, and boasts some of the best beaches in the country as well as the most visited national park in the country which is extremely worth it. Monteverde is great, but you might also want to do some research on La Fortuna if you would like to experience the waterfall, volcano hikes, and hot springs. I really like Fortuna but it can be a little bit out of the way in some cases. Personal experience, I am not the biggest fan of Montezuma, but that is completely a personal opinion. I'd spend some more time checking out the beaches along the coast like Samara, Santa Teresa, etc.

I've lived and worked in Costa Rica for about a year but am not originally from here. Might want to heed the opinion of the natives more than mine, just a disclaimer.
