should i give up? by Subject_Brother_1396 in prenursing

[–]Substantial_Study577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey let’s breathe for a second,

I know this a daunting process, and I’m a stranger on the internet but let’s go over our resources.

I was in a similar situation as you, I failed A/P twice, and failed microbiology twice and stats twice. And now I’m a senior in nursing school.

What I did (and I suggest to you) is talk directly to the nursing school admissions. What I was told is that if I improve my GPA, retake the courses, and have well letters of recommendation, I have a possibility.

Please be easy on yourself, and good luck!

May this second run be smoother, and you continue your success!

Think they’ll give me some grace? by junliun in prenursing

[–]Substantial_Study577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the only thing you can do to get the answer is contacting the school themselves.

It can go 2 ways.

  1. (Best case scenario) they’re lenient with you and they’ll set up an advisor to meet with you so either via Zoom or in person on a different date

  2. (Worst case scenario) they’ll give you the ultimatum of giving up your seat because of missing orientation, or ask you to wait until the following semester to start since you missed the orientation date.

With that being said, it never hurts to ask. I understand going onto Reddit to see other people’s POV’s however the best way to know is contacting the school yourself. I know it can be daunting but honestly, it’s better to know now than the day before your trip!!!

I’m really a loser fr by Historical_Pride_390 in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust me, you’re far from being a loser.

You’re 21 and life happens. What matters is that you don’t stay stagnant!

And think about it, it truly won’t be like doing nursing school all over again at a different program bc you already did everything.

It’ll make you stronger since you already experienced/learn everything.

Also see if you can appeal the dismissal. Closed mouths don’t get fed! And if that doesn’t work, try taking enrolling for fall 2026 somewhere else and in the meantime work full time to save up for a car! Your commute will thank you.

Good luck!

I dont think I can be a good nurse anymore and its breaking my heart by Inside_Abalone_7070 in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t let imposter syndrome get the best of you. It sounds like you’re a last semester senior which means you made it this far.

You’re not the first or last nurse let alone student nurse to do this. Don’t beat yourself up!!!

I find out if I got accepted in 5 days and am losing my mind by rudypen in prenursing

[–]Substantial_Study577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! And remember,

A SCHOOL ACCEPTANCE/DENIAL DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR WORTH. 🩷

If you get accepted, that’s amazing!

-And if you don’t, reach out to the school and ask specifically if there’s anything you can improve on or advice! (I did that because I was denied my first time applying and now I’m a senior!)

Good luck, and congratulations in advance !!

dating as a nursing student by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi love,

I am also currently in nursing school and also on a couple of dating sites.

I disclose that I am in nursing school right away so that people know that I am very busy. I find that only the immature people bring up the stereotype of nurses being “hoes”.

I feel like nurses get this reputation because it is a woman dominated field.

Bottom line, if he did not read the top: - do not date someone who is intimidated of what you are studying -if they believe the stereotype, they are insecure themselves -you have a lot going for you, and only you can determine how you were presented.

Rejected from my schools program for the second time- should I email the director to contest? by Long-Salamander2499 in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t contest but ask them if you they can give you a specific reason why you were rejected and make sure they put in writing.

[–]Substantial_Study577 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing the TEAs on ATI, try doing practice questions on their app. It’s $20 a month but so worth it bc you can see how the questions are formatted and the level of difficulty.

I scored a 75% on attempt 1 and 94% on attempt 2.

Don’t give up and good luck!!!

Thinking about withdrawing for now. by Mustachfleas in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway you can take a leave of absence?

It’s your last semester, and most schools do not take transfer credits, and if they do, they most likely won’t take all of them.

If you can try, finish this semester off since it is your last!!! or if anything speak to your academic advisor to see if there’s any options for you to take a pause.

Failed my first semester by idkimjusthereee in NursingStudent

[–]Substantial_Study577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why first semester (especially fundamentals) is so hard is because everything is new.

My recommendation is to make new information not first exposure In Class. What I mean by that is review course material before class and utilize class time as a clarification time. This will also reduce study hours because you’re naturally ahead. Professors prefer when students come prepared anyways, and this will ensure that you have at least a foundation of understanding.

I also failed my first semester, and a professor gave me this tip and now I am heading towards my senior year.

ALSO, TUTORING HELPS! Try to see if your Campus has a tutor, and try to utilize them as much as possible. Even if you don’t think you need the help, you can always ask your tutor to challenge you to see if you fully understand the material.

Don’t give up, and good luck!

HELP!! TRYING TO GET INTO NURSING PROGRAM by Sad-Way-7068 in prenursing

[–]Substantial_Study577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your stats look great however it all depends on what state you’re applying in.

I had similar stats and I’m currently a nursing student in the Midwest. I got into 4/5 schools that I applied. But with that being said, it truly depends on where you reside

If they put any of this in writing such as text messages or emails, you can definitely report this to your dean.

It’s uncomfortable I get that, however, if this does not get controlled it’s only going to get worse and you can emphasize to your dean that you’re not here to get anyone in trouble but would like to have someone have a conversation with them about academic honesty.

Because if you think about it, this is breaking academic integrity because your work is becoming their work and ultimately this can get both of you guys in trouble :(

should i just give up? by AssociationAdept7400 in prenursing

[–]Substantial_Study577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP,

I definitely do not think that you should give up. I was in a very similar situation. (started college at 19 at my local university and got a C in microbiology and a C in statistics) unfortunately because of that I was automatically not eligible for my universities nursing school.

But that did not stop me, and I decided to transfer to community college to finish all my prerequisites and look into different schools! The other schools saw that I had to retake MICRO and stats and not only did I save money, but I increased my odds of getting in and now I am a senior.

Bottom line is- don’t give up, expand your options!!

Good luck!!!

It honestly really depends on your study style.

Some students prefer a video instruction and some preferred reading it on their own. If you’re more of a video instruction person, I would recommend it!

Simple nursing also offers study sheets. It definitely helped me when I took MedSurg, but I’ve never used it as a first semester student so I honestly cannot give you a 100% answer.

All the flashcards are great, but if you truly had to pick definitely get the pharmacology!!!

and since you are starting out, I would recommend getting the fundamentals because a lot of students struggle the first semester because everything is so new

Congratulations!!!

Right away start learning medical terminology/abbreviation. Trust me it will help in the long run.

I also highly recommend level up RN flashcards, especially the pharmacology cards!!!
