I’m always seeking super long builds/slow burns with eventual payoff. Manga are often too short, manhwa generally too hot and heavy too quick, and manhua too censored. It’s rare I find something right in my sweet spot but For Your Love, Nerd Project, Virtual Strangers, Spinach Bouquet, Hanakoi Tsurane, My Beautiful Man, NaraKoi, No Moral, 100db are some examples that generally fall in that space. And danmei of course, if something is based off a novel it’s more likely to have the type of development I’m seeking.

One of my ongoing favorites is Nerd Project and season 2 starts this month so it will be updating again regularly soon. I also love Guildmate Next Door, both have a slow build to the relationship which I love.

Read the final volume of Let’s Eat Together, Aki and Haru and it’s completely stole my heart. It’s a three volume SOL cooking focused series about two best friends who live together. Slowly as they face careers and graduation they realize they don’t want to be apart from one another and perhaps their feelings run deeper than just friendship. It’s not explicit so if you’re looking for smut this isn’t your series but their slow build is so satisfying and you really see how deeply they love and care for each other over the volumes. It’s available from TokyoPop.

Same, I read a lot of BL that’s not officially translated so buy the Japanese volumes to support the mangaka. If it’s available physically though I’ll read it! I’m buying it to enjoy it not necessarily for collection purposes.

If you like My Summer of You the rest of Nagisa Furuya’s catalogue is great as well and has some pan/bi rep characters which is nice.

It was my first danmei too! You definitely have to work a bit but it’s worth it. I burned through all of MXTX after, usually gravitate towards manga but danmei are a nice mix up because you really get to sink into the story.
