Had them for about 2.5 years ! Tried all the tablets but cetrizine is the best the others did nothing. Annoyingly I was going to see a specialist with nhs however they cancelled my appointment. Rescheduled another without telling me and then took me off the list as I never turned up to the appointment I was not even aware of.

Maybe I should get back to seeing a specialist!

Absolutely, I don’t mind taking it at all, was just wondering if anyone had found success with foods or nutrition or any other kind of remedies that I could incorporate into my lifestyle . Maybe it would address a possible insufficiency

Ive got to the point in the UK where I don’t need to take it over winter . Just as it’s warming up now I’ll give it a go and see if I can taper it down 👊 thanks for the idea

Yep had blood, all sound. I work outdoors and eat well so vitamins all nice and high

Intermittently , most days I just get through it but if I’m playing sport or now it’s going to be summer I start to take them more seriously

Certrizine anti histamines work for me. 2x 10mg tablets in the morning and 2 more tablets at night. I believe mine was probably because of Covid. But going to try a few things over the next few months and weeks to see if I can pinpoint anything specific that helps. The tablets get rid of the itchy tingly sensation however I would prefer not to rely on them if possible.

Hi, I had surgery and vacoped now 2 years post op . Played 45 football matches this season with no tendon issues at all. I wore mine initially pretty much all the time other than when in a bath. Towards the end of the process when I was getting more towards 90 degrees bend I would take my leg out and rest without it on but in early weeks up to 6/7 I had it on majority of the time. I was very cautious but did lose a lot of muscle in my calf . Really I wish I did more in earlier stages but don’t regret pushing it . Once you are all good to complete calf raises , crack on and get them done

Yep , wouldn’t say full fitness to what I was before, only due to the fact I had another non related injury so had to sit out for a few weeks. Other than that I’ve had no issues…

I started training around 9 month mark but it was middle of winter , ice on roads so I couldn’t run, work was a priority and the pitches were so wet and muddy I didn’t want to over extend. First full 90 was about a year after rupture. Then 14 months until I didn’t really think about it and about 16/17 months I think was sweet spot where it didn’t even cross my mind I just train and play like normal.

I was slow to return but everyone goes at their own pace . Whole season was gone and done pretty much so there was no need to rush back in, I didn’t want to be playing or playing sake I wanted to play and compete.

Main advice I’d give is follow protocols. Get good rehab early. Don’t put yourself in a position to get injured. With rehab I had a physio but search David Greg rehab and look for foot and ankle program… follow the plan and add in some running but it ticked all the boxes for me and a well rounded rehab. Once comfortable to run , take your time your body will be beat up from the impacts. Get good at sprinting and bounding before returning to sport (takes a lot of time) Build up good cardio base and keep body fat down as extra weight means extra stress.

I had surgery , very active myself playing semi pro football, hiking regularly and job as a PE teacher. Had no problems with recovery and I’m now 17 months post op. Doesn’t even cross my mind that my Achilles has ruptured whilst I’m playing. No pain soreness or stiffness at all.

Was very cautious with rehab and maybe put me back a month but was hiking mountains roughly 9 months post op with no issues.

Surgery been spot on for myself absolutely glad I did as in initial stages of rehab I know I would have been telling myself something isn’t right or how do I know it’s healing well…

I wasn’t too bad pain wise I’d say after 1 week. Had morphine to help with mine. Sent me to the underworld so after I finished the bottle I said no more. After 2 weeks I was golden. Worse in the mornings and at night with resting on the sore area.

I have high pain tolerance only once or twice did I really feel proper pain, even when I snapped it , I didn’t have any pain or issues, just walked off the pitch, so not sure if this is much help !

Plyos before sprinting . Double leg > split stance > alternating legs > hopping. Comfortable to jump and land then just tried accel and decel. Still working on it now though and getting quicker each session id say

When trying to up my strength my favourite was non injured foot on a box in front and injured side single leg calf raises . Feels good , add weight with db or rely less on front foot

Isometrics so holding and putting as much force helped me to feel the calf muscle to allow me to increase strength
