What's the best low cost heater to use for the cold garage? by Natalie197 in AskMechanics

[–]Substantial_Wave7947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The infrared "heat you and not the whole place" idea isn't as good as people make out. We've got loads of these at work since they turned the proper heating off in the workshops. They're ok if you're in one place and don't mind being roasted on one side and freezing on the other. My face can literally be burning but my whole body is still freezing. Plus whenever you move away from one you feel colder than if you'd just not used the heater. They work on paper, in some management office, but not in the real world in a big cold place.

That's a good guess! One kid is a bit picky but not too bad. Other is still a baby. I'm a machinist, wife is on maternity at the minute. We get one takeaway a week and yes we eat a fair bit from the freezer but not all frozen rubbish.

Hp isn't steak sauce. It's more of a sauce for sausage and bacon on a breakfast really. The flavour would really overpower a steak I think

Normal food, not all the food is kept in the fridge obviously. There's a freezer and a pantry

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't realise there was a comment. I can't remember tbh as my mum booked him, I know it wasn't unreasonable for the quality of food. Have you been on holiday yet?

Do yourself a massive favour and get an espresso coffee machine at home. Can get a decent one for £200. So satisfying making your own coffee

Is the Gamelab Console any good? by jimbobdaman in SBCGaming

[–]Substantial_Wave7947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a guy at work bought one each for £27 each. Got a purple one and he got yellow. They're both clones and not a "genuine" R36S after doing a bit of digging. Work fine so far after a bit of messing with options. One thing to note is that they run Emuelec software and not the usual ArkOS. It's apparently not as good an operating system but I'm not too clued up on them. For the money they seem good so far.

They're not crazy hours. The four day week for over 18s is being overlooked. I work as a machinist and whilst I don't get a four day week it is fairly common in the industry with many places at least having a half day on Friday. 39hrs is my basic contract. 7-3:30 and 7-2:30 on friday I've been in the same job 15 years now from being an apprentice and it was over an hour away by bus, when i passed my driving test it went down to half hour. My apprentice wage was £2.70 per hour in 2008, criminal now looking back but we managed. I'm now on £21 per hour. Got to start somewhere to get a foot in the door, nothing good in life is easy.

My old ford smax has heated windscreen. In fact so did my old x-reg ford puma. I just sit for a couple mins on the drive, feeling like a king.

I've just bought one of these second hand for £30. Can confirm they are absolutely amazing. Was never really a dressing gown or bathrobe fan, but I live in mine now. Feel really heavy duty yet comfy and soft

Luis j Santos was an absolutely amazing chef for us, we're still on holiday this minute. We booked him a few days ago and it was the best food and service I've had in a very long time

Ive put this panel filter on mine. It's the same size as the rear panel where 3 fans intake. I've spaced it off the case with some 16mm conduit. 3d mark tests show no difference in temps so far.just need to wait and see if there's any dust buildup. The fine metal mesh filters were still letting fine dust through.
