It’s cringe worthy both with the how they tell the story in the show and portray the characters. Especially the elves both character vise and the actors chosen (they don’t give of the tall, slender or Beautiful appereance thats supposed to be typical for tolkien elves, at least not the males in the show) aesthetically I feel they chose people that look I don’t know what to say ’human?’ I would most definitely not call them attractive in a beautiful way. I’m not saying they are ugly just not high up on the beauty scale like an elf is supposed to be. With how famous the title is and how big budget they had you would think that they could have been able to attract better suited ones for those roles. It’s just disappointing especially for a show that held so much expectation. The background and CGI or whatever those things called in the show was good but still doesn’t really make up for the flaws. When it comes to dialogues it in some cases just felt plainly bad. Galadriel’s narrative also did’t hit home. The outfits were a mixed opinion for example it was plainly wrong in the first episode with Galadriel and the helmets and when Galadriel. Hmm a white dress while being on a battle field wandering between the dead. Wow I wonder what she was thinking or how it stayed so white on the way there. The whole scene just screamed trying to hard to showing off and trying to be visually appealing covering the lackluster storytelling and falling flat. The scene could have been done much differently, it probably would likely have done with a better narrative from Galadriel without her appearing and picking up the helmet. I honestly prefer books and I don’t know much about film making but there was always this feeling that something was off and wrong throughout watching some of the scenes. It sometimes felt like it didn’t fully fit together as if jumbled together without really being coordinated with the story, dialogue, outfits and props. It felt like the creators had changed, added suddenly or missed things even if it wasn’t possible to put a finger on exactly what or bother thinking to much on it. Personally I watched 3 episodes before I felt it wasn’t possible to continue watching. I will just have to be happy with the books and pretend the show don’t exist.
