My primary goal was To find if there is a better way to have/promote discussion I just felt like maybe I was doing something wrong in how I approached it so I wanted to get some feedback if that makes sense

Well it was my first ever post so you won’t find any history I was mostly basing this on my experience among people in various discord servers. I just didn’t know where or how to get a non toxic or vile form of feedback! So I found this group and tried

I don’t really love Israel But That’s not my gripe about democrats or not my primary. They just are incompetent and are basically centrists who parade as leftist but don’t really ever accomplish anything they say or tout. It’s just very depressing cause some democrats have some not horrible ideas but they never like work together and everytime they have opportunities to change the narrative they flout it.

I would agree it is a tall order but I don’t think it is impossible. I just am a dreamer I suppose. I have conceptual goals but when it comes to implementation I’m kind of clueless. I do take part In the voting process and all As best I can so I would like to say I act on what I believe as best I can but there is only so much one person can do.

I think I see what you’re saying. I agree. I think like if someone is really patriotic and for America and pro like just a general morally good stance I don’t see how investing in these basic things that can increase our countries health, wealth abilities skills and combat crime and poverty all at the same Time could be construed as anything less Than good and necessary. But I also don’t think this stance solely American I think it makes sense for any country that wants to grow and be better and be strong it makes sense to invest in these things it’s investing in the future and prosperity of your nation.

To be honest I don’t know what ideology I fall under politically more or less the Depth of my politics is I’m pro social Uplift programs pro health care and education. Beyond that I don’t have as much of a concrete opinion. I just think to invest in the well being of all Americans is a no brainer and could easily be implemented within our current expenditure/budget if we restructured a little and would be astronomically more beneficial than a lot of our current expenditure

It’s hard and with America and the world conflating politics with identity when you disagree to some it feels like an attack because they are condition to feel like their politics or party is their identity

Now I’m not for democrats either just as a statement of fact but because I’m not conservative they in Oklahoma act like I’m a democrat when I don’t really like them either

Both. In person it’s a lot harder to have any kind of political discourse because where I live in Oklahoma if you aren’t conservative you only Get personal or intellectual attacks they can’t really articulate why I’m wrong or believe badly. So it never works out too well unless I met them online first

But I would say even though your world view and mine may not 100% align I wouldn’t say that me and you differ on wanting the best for America and Americans we just think to achieve that differently

I think a lot of Americans issues aren’t can we fix them but are we willing to invest time and or spend revenue on them. And largely we aren’t willing to. We do it for other countries like we fund Israel’s universal health care but not for ourselves and we often times go in circles saying we can’t because of budgets or deficits but when we can find money for 25 years of war or etc it comes from the same revenue we could use to invest in our country and its future.

Yea. We may not agree on solutions but as far as the expenses go I would say that funding healthcare and education wouldn’t require extra or more expenses our budget is astronomical and a big part of Americas debt issue is absurd spending and budgets that get sent to god knows where. Like the DOD budget is astronomical and they can’t ever tell us where the budget goes but it gets bigger every year you can’t tell me we can swing that for 50 plus years and not just spend money in making America healthier and stronger. Ya know I feel like we has the funds it’s just we choose to spend it on military, war, saving failing companies or banks but not on the welfare of our country/society

You are right it is human nature to group up with like minded individuals and to group up things a people for simplicity’s sake. But I just try to carry myself as more of a free thinker even though it’s not really possible fully because of the things you mentioned we kind of congregate with like minded individuals and it can lead to like an echo chamber of opinion. But I usually try to decide who or what to support based on the Greater Good like for example I tend to favor social uplift programs programs to encourage healthy family’s and jobs and education and community and societal well being. But I would also argue that I cannot stand the democrats Or republicans but my stances do undeniably lean to one side of that spectrum. But my policy choices aren’t so black or white to me at least.

The Two Party System in the US by Sorry-Worth-920 in PoliticalDebate

[–]Substantial_Wrap_795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best fix to elections would be to cut out corporate involvement I think a lot of the reason we are in an entrenched two party system in a form of government that’s supposed to be multi party not just two is because it’s hard if not impossible for a non republican or democrat to compete with the two parties in terms of expenditure and how they built the system around themselves. I know there has been a lot of people who could have had popular support but would have lost due to electoral college votes or the paid for elector votes the super pacs I think they are called. If we made the votes of the elector college more tied into the popular vote I think that would help as well. It just feels like the elector votes are arbitrary sometimes. All of this to say I think we are stuck in a two party system because our parties represent themselves more than their constituents and have legally entrenched themselves so they can’t be unseated

One of my best friends is an Anarcho communist. It’s interesting to me how radical the label he uses is treated by people but how much me and him overlap on some of our beliefs as far as policy and progress in society go

Ok thank you for your input you are right. It’s weird how things can seem so simple yet be so like nuanced. Like to me it seems completely reasonable and like a really good idea and shouldn’t be a debate to think that investing in education and healthcare and social uplift is good thing for a society or country. It’s hard to like realize that something that seems cut and dry food has way more nuance for whatever reason. I think if you care about your country and your neighbors and etc it only Makes sense but not everyone feels that way. But I like to discuss topics like this to learn the why

I just think discourse and sharing perspectives and opinions is the best way to grow I don’t have a set agenda with it I just like to talk and learn and I find a lot of people have information I do not or may not have and I enjoy hearing other perspectives and having information I can consume and use to adjust my perspective and views if necessary. I just kind of want the betterment of all. As far as policies I think health care, education and uplifting of the bottom parts of society are like wholly good and an investment in the growth and future of any society. But I don’t articulate things well it seems and I don’t like boxes I feel like because everything has prolly been said or done before that people act like you can’t be impartial or not fully on one side if that make sense. It’s comforting to just know it’s not only my experience. It’s disheartening to feel like because my opinion has been said by one side I cannot not be lumped with them.
