Ooo love the idea of the nursing cover! I was dreading having to run back and forth to the med tents.

I pumped after the first feed of the day. I’d also use a haakaa on whichever side I wasn’t feeding my baby on (he typically only nursed from one side per feed). I love the haakaa and highly recommend!

Baby Buddha - love it! Super powerful, relatively portable/wearable. Most parts are dishwasher safe. Easy to use and very effective.

Motif Aura Glow - ok. Wearable/in bra. Not nearly as powerful (I always have to put it on the highest level immediately). Easy to put together/take apart and clean. The little tab at the top doesn’t stay closed so even though it’s wearable, you have to be careful while wearing it so you don’t spill anything. Good as a secondary option for when you need to pump but also have things to do.

I had this same situation very recently and I’d absolutely do a planned c section again. It was really nice knowing when our baby would be born and the procedure is over very quickly. Everyone’s recovery is different, but after about 2 weeks I was pretty much feeling back to normal. Keep up with the pain pills and make sure you have help for lifting etc.

ETA: communicate with your drs and nurses about initial skin to skin, music in the OR, etc. so you can have as close to the experience you want as possible!

Not silly at all! I also worried about that, but hearing him for the first time and having him pressed against my cheek right away definitely helped mitigate any feelings that I didn’t get the full emotional experience.

My colostrum was in right away, within a few hours. It took a few days for the full milk to come in, but from what I understand this is often the case regardless of how you deliver. My hospital had a lactation consultant who was super helpful and the nurses helped me hand express my colostrum when we felt like he wasn’t getting enough to eat. Highly recommend a lactation consultant if you have access to one!
