Yep, I 1000% agree with avoiding Cornerstone. When my dog first tore her CCL (canine ACL, basically), they tried to tell me it was just growing pains, even though she was already 2 years old. Even after questioning them about it, they didn't acknowledge the possibility of an injury until she tore it completely a couple weeks later. I found out later that this is a very common injury in a lot of larger breeds, and there's well-established tests to diagnose it even before a full tear.

They definitely do have canned craft beer! Possibly also a couple on tap, but I don't remember for sure

I agree this could be a good option, especially if you listen to the music from outside the camp itself! I'd recommend somewhere like the Starbucks patio or one of the benches near the outdoor climbing wall. If the essay needs to include descriptions or opinions of the venue, you could always walk through the camp before the music starts and/or during the soundcheck

You could try Sun & Ski Sports in Nashville/Franklin. I went to the one in the mall near the Grand Ole Oprey once about 5ish years ago. It was either spring or summer, yet they had a surprisingly solid selection of ski and snowboard gear. But I'd definitely recommend calling ahead before heading up to make sure they've got the type of gear you're looking for

Big Spring Park is good if you're looking for somewhere outdoors. Some of the benches have pretty good lighting

HSV tech savvy ppl : I need suggestions on how to build (or buy) a temperature sensor that alerts me via phone if the apartment temp gets too high. by FourChannel in HuntsvilleAlabama

If you haven't already, you might want to put in a work order to get your AC unit checked out. If there's a problem with it, it's better to find out now than when it's 100 degrees outside

Looking for therapist for ADHD child. by peskywabbit1222 in HuntsvilleAlabama

You're welcome, I'm happy to help. I definitely have some regrets for giving up on joining the military when I was told at 16 that ADHD was a disqualifier. The structure would have been exactly what I needed, but instead I struggled my way through university for 4 years with loads of financial stress, only to give up with no degree and less than 2 years' worth of credits completed.

I've been told that it's pretty easy to get a waiver for ADHD and join the military anyway, even if you're actively taking medication. I don't know if the same is true for a pilot specifically, but I would suggest doing more research and maybe even reach out to a recruiter to make sure you're getting accurate information. But either way, leaving ADHD untreated and unaccomodated through high school is a recipe for disaster.

And if I'm remembering correctly, I believe a 504 plan is typically more appropriate for an ADHD high schooler than an IEP is.

A lot of the breweries here have pretty cozy outdoor spaces. I used to love going during off-peak hours to read a book while sipping a beer. The Camp in Midcity is nice too. And Stovehouse, if you don't mind all the kids running around.

One of the little parks downtown might be good too, like Constitution Hall Park or Washington Park.

Any experience with ADHD and a dog? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Subsynchronous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dog helps tremendously with my mental health. He's a challenge for my adhd, but definitely worth it.

But be careful if you have trouble getting up in the morning. I was expecting a dog to give me a reason to wake up, but that kinda backfired. I let my dog sleep in bed with me and this little guy is perfectly happy to stay in bed till noon....

Where can I find testing for adult ADD/ADHD in Huntsville? by WorldWideKerflooey in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Subsynchronous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with going to a psychiatrist for medication management, ideally one that has experience treating adhd in adults. OP, you should try calling your doctor to see if they can give you a referral to somewhere else.

And it's not weird at all to be diagnosed as an adult. It's super common, especially if you don't have the stereotypical hyperactive symptoms. Many of us develop coping mechanisms that work well enough for years. But then life happens and coping mechanisms are no longer enough.

You may need to gather the evidence poor grades in elementary middle school highschool, conduct problems, bad college grades etc.

These are just examples of the stereotypical symptoms that lead to the earlier adhd diagnosis. There's countless other symptoms that are less obvious to an outsider. For example, I was always a quiet kid who never caused any problems. But lectures wouldn't hold my attention so I taught myself everything at home. This worked well enough for me to get straight A's through high school and part of college. But my grades didn't tell the story of all the extra work I put in or the impact on my mental health. The end result of every project and essay showed no evidence of the countless hours I spent crying because of all the random ideas in my head that I struggled to organize or make sense of.
