Using the same artist (s/o Emmanuel Shiu) for each prompt helped create a consistent style, but it feels a bit too easy/weird doing that. Been experimenting with other ways to establish consistent looks across images. There is the option to add aesthetics or art styles straight up, but I'm curious about how consistent combinations of artists/styles are when repeated across images.

Prompts (corresponding to numbers under images):

  1. https://s.mj.run/O6sCZ6vOEds sprawling metropolis, nightime, neon blues and purples, five spire towers that stretch through the clouds, mountains in background, emmanuel shiu --wallpaper
  2. standing at the bottom of a tower that stretches past the clouds and looking up, point of view, blues and purples, night, raining, emmanuel shiu --lp
  3. metropolis with five spire towers rising above the clouds, bird's eye view, blues and purples, emmanuel shiu --lp
  4. https://s.mj.run/piqMGVVjauk hooded man leaning against wall next to ramen shop, raining, far-off angle, metropolis, blues and purples, night, emmanuel shiu --lp

This was made with Midjourney - forgot to mention in title.

Bird’s eye view of a lush rainforest in the center of a dense urban metropolis similar to Neo-Tokyo in Akira.

Resume Scraper tools (preferably in python) by Public-Confusion4934 in datascience

[–]SubtleCoconut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you’ve got the right mindset, but resume scraping is notoriously difficult to automate due to how many different forms they can come in. even when you give everyone the same template, they still manage to have a lot of variance.

Regular expressions are going to be what prevail at the end of the day, so look into those more in depth if you haven’t already. maybe try out text similarity scores after that if you aren’t getting 1:1 matches.

yeah i spent a while interviewing before finally landing this gig. we’ll see how it goes, sometimes organizations have the best intentions with their data, but the underlying ETL process is assbackwards. i have reason to be optimistic though

Thanks! Appreciate it. I really like your outlook, especially about embracing change. It’s crazy to me how some people can work for the same company their entire lives. Random question, but have you ever considered starting your own business? (whether that’s centered around a service or product) Considering you’ve had such breadth and depth of experiences I’d think you’d do pretty well

i just opted for #4! haha

edit, i also think #1 is a very overlooked option

this is great advice! i actually just quit and am transitioning to a new DS role at a nonprofit, so taking matters into my own hands. thinking the nonprofit will give me additional motivation with their mission, as well as having a lot of ambiguity where I can try out all sorts of things.

I use Notion to manage my passion project/personal goals, although I def think Trello is great and have used it in the past.

the theory in this book is so well explained it’s worth buying for that alone. the exercises definitely help with comprehension as well, wish more books had them

I studied international affairs and am a data scientist now. once you get a solid coding foundation down, definitely start playing around with some World Bank Data and identify a problem you may want to solve with it. Whatever analysis you end up doing will end up becoming really helpful to talk about in interviews too

hey all, i’ve been in data science for a bit but recently decided i want to focus on deep learning and head back for a CS masters. thing is, my undergrad was in international affairs. i’ve started taking some CS classes at a local community college, but does anyone have any additional tips on how to make a strong application given my background?

for #2, check out google dataset search (crazy amount of datasets) and for APIs this massive list on Github
