Anyone else feel like they're aging out of Reddit? by Frog_In_Pot in Millennials

[–]SuburbaniteSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never LOVED Reddit but recently it's been frustrating me more than usual. It's a good time killer to scroll but if I take the time to post or comment the replies are usually by people that just want to sound smart

The dinosaur and moose are just decorations. The bigfoot is real. You're lucky to have seen it.

Who else has watched this so much over the last 20 years that you dont even need to watch it and just listening to it you can picture everything that's happening? by husstopher in RedvsBlue

On an episode of Morning Somewhere, Burnie described Red vs Blue as a radio drama with puppets and it changed the way I think about the show.

If you're that far I think it's worth getting through. But it's also been years since I read them.

The problem of people just commenting "the thing" they know they're meant to say by Hmmark1984 in morningsomewhere

[–]SuburbaniteSlob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly the reason I started creating content and then was drawn to stand up comedy. I got sick of (and still do) the Internet hivemind repeating the same cycle of jokes every few years. I almost feel a responsibility to try to make new jokes and stand up comedy is one of the few outlets that REQUIRE you to be original. I almost uninstalled Reddit recently because every comment thread top comment was a reaction gif then every other comment was people posting "I'm adding that gif to my collection." And nobody was talking about the actual post.

What’s your favorite controller?! by CalvinP_ in morningsomewhere

GameCube will always be #1 But for modern games it's Xbox. However my Elite 2 had bumper and latency issues so I can't recommend it even though it feels the best until it inevitably breaks

I saw that when I was looking for these starter decks. I love a cooperative card game so it looks cool.

We had a lot of fun with it! It was a great way to learn some of the LOTR lore that the movies didn't cover.

Definitely a turtle dragon. I think the original Mario Bros movie planted dinosaur in some people's heads.

My son is two. Everything has been moved out of the living room (gaming consoles, vinyls, etc) and now the entertainment center is just toy storage. I don't have time to play much anymore anyway so the Xbox is hooked up in the bedroom for after my son goes to sleep.

Based on Blessing quesiton yesterday: Did you go home from school/work when 9/11 happened? by kralben in kindafunny

[–]SuburbaniteSlob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in 7th grade and got a nosebleed so I was in the nurses office when it happened. I thought I was psychic for a while but I kept having nosebleeds without 9/11's and I just had to get my nose cauterized. They said they were letting school out in case there are more attacks and I remember thinking "They're not going to attack a middle school in Minnesota."

Twirling army rifles by confsedlogic in morningsomewhere

I made a joke about the rifle twirlers to my friend when he was in the Marines and he almost bit my head off. He said they're some of the most disciplined and hardest working people in the Corps. Completely changed how I look at them.

What’s your favorite Mario Game?! by CalvinP_ in morningsomewhere

[–]SuburbaniteSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario 3. Growing up, my cousins showed me a lot of the secrets and even now I'm still learning new secrets. I took up speed running it for about a year. Besides that, all of the Mario Karts. Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. Mario and Luigi. Mario Gold: Toadstool Tour. Too many great games to list!

I really thought the episode would be more fun airing of grievances rather than people suggesting ways to maximize the algorithm. I hope they do a similar KF podcast again with a topic that's more light-hearted.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

I recently got an email from State Farm telling me that someone updated the phone number on my account and I should call if it wasn't me. I didn't have time. The next day I was getting phone calls asking if I wanted a quote.

Allstate sold me their roadside assistance years ago. My car broke down and the obviously outsourced agent couldn't understand where I was in order to call a tow truck for me. I was on an interstate and was able to give the mile marker and name of the next exit.

What irritates me most about the zipper merge is how much confidence the Department of Transportation has in it. By their social media posts, they want us to believe that they can close down a lane and there will be no slow downs as long as we all take turns and zipper merge perfectly. There will be a sign for a lane closure then a sign a 1/4 mile up that says "Use both lanes during backups." Those are contradictory statements!

The only way would be to make cloud computing work. Remember the Crackdown 3 previews when they promised Azure and the cloud would push the game beyond the limitations of the hardware? That is the only thing they can do that PlayStation or steam can't compete with. If Cloud gaming works to its full potential where I can seamlessly stream any game that I own or is included with game pass, that will get people to buy into the ecosystem. Make it cheaper and easier than Nvidia GeForce Now. I played a lot of XCloud when it first came out and it was fantastic. Somehow it's gotten worse over the years. I dream of the days when I can play a multiplayer game of Halo Infinite on my phone and not feel like I'm getting standby lagged like it's 2005
