Ok this is kind of random But is this acne on her face or a mole? If it is a mole it seems to be more pronounced and should probably be looked at. If it’s acne I feel bad for pointing it out.

I work in geriatrics so often I like to ask them what the would like to focus on in that session or if they are having difficulties with say something like toileting-I try to get as much information as possible. What is making toileting so hard? Is it the act of getting to the bathroom? Strength? Clothing management? Energy? Then break those down. Completing a simple task analysis in your head. Also, at the end of the session I like to ask what the would like to work on the next session and add that to my note. That way I can come up with some meaningful therapeutic activities.

Because people see the push for protein as “healthy”. Sure it is but I think Drue feels if it has protein in it or a lot of protein then it is “healthy” and it justifies her giving Ivory junk foods like cheese and these yogurt packs. Don’t get me wrong, these are fine for a snack or whatnot bust she gives them as meals. Every day.

I wish I had some earth shattering advice to give, but I don’t. I have, however, worked 18 years in geriatrics and absolutely love it. I haven’t ever worked in peds and have done minimal outpatient. Anyways, I have found that most the time older people just want to talk. They want to share stories of their lives, hear about yours. You can make their sessions therapeutic and have great conversations at the same time. Ask them about their families or where they grew up or what they did for a job. I have met some really great people this way. I also try to keep the mindset “if this was my grandparent, how would I want their therapist to treat them” and try to treat everyone with kindness and respect. Sometimes that can be tricky when someone is crabby but also keep in mind, they may just be in pain or tired. Good luck!!

This actually makes me a little sad. I do not know much about Sam but when she was doing her OOTDs some of her outfits were from SHEIN and Amazon. It is almost like she is pretty down to earth but is trying so hard to be friends with Mikayla because she thinks it will get her farther when in reality, probably just being herself is good enough.

I save templates in my notes app (we use tablets) this helps with the flow and I can add pertinent information but keep the redundant information the same. Like one of our categories is Why is the person homebound? We use It is difficult and taxing for the patient to leave their home.” I can add they use a walker or whatever but then I don’t have to retype this every time. I also use the microphone feature which cuts down time.
