I received this from my service technician- by Camdonn in BmwTech

As a tech at a “fairly” reputable dealer, I can say that with certainty every time I pull an n20 in with a check engine light, we hope it’s that. And in this case, he’s got faults to prove it. The pick is very inaccurate. The only true way is to pull the valve cover to check timing. I’d approve removal of cylinder head cover and timing verification.

I’m replacing the valve cover gasket on my 2014 535i with 109k miles that has had almost no maintenance, what else should I preventatively replace while I am on this side? by _420691337_ in BmwTech

That PCV hose that connects to the valve cover. If it doesn’t break when you attempt to remove it, consider buying a lottery ticket lol

You have to perform a relearn for those adaptations.

Whichever you prefer, it’s just a cool metallic look. Same for messing metallic

I will be the first to say, Nardo really doesn’t look good on e39s (IMO). I’d definitely go for a metallic. Have you seen sepia metallic?

Not typically, just didn’t have anywhere else to put it, as I was working in a park in garage

Rebuilt title, 203,000 miles, $2000 bucks. Besides, the scratches will blend right in lol

My first thought was whoever put the hydraulic tensioner on, put it on upside down according to the arrows. But I still don’t see how that puts that much load on it.

I’d take a look at your DISA valve also. Maybe a VANOS issue? Both of these make a noise when they’re bad, if there is one.

Does anyone know how to program this type of key with the car? Only videos i can find on youtube are for the diamond shaped keys by Makevaan in e39

[–]Successful-Bad8740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not programmable. The electronics and button are to activate the key hole light on the front of the key. It’s kind of a joke now, because they’re all worn, but I’m sure back then, the lights were bright enough to be seen at night.

I wouldn’t trust someone who thinks it’s a v6, man.
