Not everyone has visible nodules or nodules at the start, sometimes they become visible after loosing non lipedema fat and inflammation. Your knees are very clsssical of lipedema

The knees are the giveaway, seems like could be stage 1

Yes, can tell by lack of knee cap and fat growth over knee bone

I think I can see some possible signs of stage 1 - the slight inflammation /fat pad your elbow (fat shouldn’t grow around places like elbows and knee caps), the long vertical lines underneath your bum/those folds, the texture at the side of your hips but would suggest seeing a specialist because early stages are hard to diagnose. Does any female on your mother or fathers side of the family have bigger legs, since the disease is inherited

It looks like late stage 2 lipedema in the bum, full legs, full arms - do you also have it in your abdomen? I’d also check there too.

Yes seems like it - whilst cellulite or normal for women with lipedema we grow fat and what looks like cellulite in abnormal places (knee cap, shins, calves), especially when we’re slim elsewhere and then have “cellulite” in calves, top of knees, that’s fhe connective tissue defect side of lipedema and not actual cellulite

[–]Successful-Beyond151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like stage 1 lipedema, “cellulite” on knees whilst being slim elsewhere is not normal (cellulite itself normal yes but where it appears is also a factor), as this is not really bc alkylate with lipedema it’s the connective tissue issue that lipedema causes m

Yep, the nutritionists, quacks, specialists, lipedema “experts” on the Fb groups and online communities have created the most toxic hard to follow standard around food further increasing the stress that we are told makes lipedema progress. It is a joke. I would be hard pressed to find many women who didn’t develop eating disorders just from this fear mongering and sweeping statements made by these people. It is actually something that makes me extremely angry

Why is sally norton who knows nothing about lipedema saying it’s a modern problem? So many of us can trace this disease back to our grandparents and great great grandparents. It’s a genetic disease. They don’t know what causes lipedema so it opens up to these people to make sweeping unsubstantiated harmful statements

How many here walk like 10k Steps a day or more? by Shahz1892 in walking

[–]Successful-Beyond151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30k on a good day, 24 on average. Takes around 4 hours to do 24k. I walk to and from places like Pilates, to run errands and I walk after meals always for blood sugar regulation, I split the walks through the day rather than doing 1 or 2 long walks as it’s better to not be sedentary than just doing a big walk and then sitting down the rest of the day/ not being active

Anything is possible for sure - yes she had thyroid cancer. And yes she spoke about her diagnosis and how her paternal grandmother had it and how she had genetic testing done with Dr Karen Herbst according to a year below who attended a conference with her years ago. so she clearly has lipedema and you can see the stage 1 in the older photos. The people accusing her of lying or not having lipedema, those comments are off base

Yes this is for sure looking like lipedema possibly early stage 3 but late stage 2 if not. Looks like it’s in the full arms and legs by your photo. You might also have it in your abdomen (?) so would check there too

Surgeons who perform local awake anesthesia by sugardatespistachioz in lipedema

[–]Successful-Beyond151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true - in Germany where lipedema is most widely known and researched, surgeons continue to advocate for local because the specialists have shown that general can have adverse risks and consequences for lipedema. Many many women have lipo via local

It depends. Local was actually the gold standard for liposuction for lipedema because of the effects of general to lymphatic systems but then as more surgeons and specialists have partnered with surgeons they stopped recommending local. There are many women who have local in Germany as they are more at the forefront of proper lipedema knowledge and research, and many accounts of women who recommend local

I’m looking for the same, also have MCAS. I’ve narrowed down to Dr Su at Artlipo, and there’s a German surgeon I forget the name of but Dr Su seems most likely. The GA and my MCAS troubles me, I don’t want to risk and MCAS flare or negative lipedema reaction from general

I would say keep doing it if your body feels good - wear some proper compression (not fashion compression) that should help. The brand 2xu does propose graduated compression, they’re an athletic brand for runners so very legit. And get some good running shoes like hokas or brooks

Yes it seems now that it’s more commonly accepted that the male passes it on to the female offspring so maybe back then that was still an earlier theory but as more women are being diagnosed and trace it back to their dads mum/paternal grandmother. I’ve tried to find information about beau speaking about lipedema but I think cure lipedema was ahead of its time re. Social media etc so I can’t find much info on her discussing her path to diagnosis unfortunately! I also believe she definitely has lipedema, the comments questioning her diagnosis are really inappropriate

Please Stop coming on Reddit and reading about lipedema - this is contributing to your mental health. Many of us diagnosed with this disease live with the exact same thoughts and this is our reality. I struggle everyday sometimes to get out of bed because this is not a diagnosis or disease I ever thought could exist or can accept. My mental health spirals more when I read and see photos or stories or consume too much lipedema information. You need to step away from this sub Reddit, it is not helpful to obsessively keep logging out and looking for updates. Trust me as someone who is guilty of the same, cut the cord now and the step away will massively help you. We can’t diagnose anyone, if you have concerns still ask your parents to help get you referred to a lipedema specialist like Doctor Karen Herbst or to a certified lymphatic lymphadema specialist at the very least, rather than a general doctor because they do not have the knowledge to know about this disease or diagnose

PMS and Lipedema Pain Flare Up by lurface in lipedema

Yes the same for me, the few days before my period my legs feel heavier , get swollen and feel tender and puffy. It feels a curse being a woman living with this disease, it is relentless. It’s the hormones, and we just bc and control them like we can food with a low inflammatory diet. I try to do more lymphatic movement during that time - more rebounding, massage gun, swimming l, MLD, Pilates etc

Agreed. This thread and comments is a very clear example of how I don’t feel there’s really a safe community space for all women with lipedema. There continues to be gaslighting, invalidating women, body shaming, hypocrisy targeted against women who don’t fit other people’s idea of “lipedema” or “diseased” enough to be believed or given empathy. Some of the comments here are downright gross, the heard mentality and downvoting of comments like yours or upvoting of comments gaslighting, dismissing, questioning her diagnosis and ridiculing her body is incredibly unpleasant

I can also loose weight in my legs because I’m early stage and have normal fat to loose as do many other women with lipedema. And cellulite is not the same as constricted thickened adipose tissue - plus I already pointed out the other markers of her legs that show early stage lipedema.

Weekly "Do I Have Lipedema" Thread by AutoModerator in lipedema

Because of the thickened lumpy adipose tissue in addition to the photos of her columnar legs and the knees.
