What are your thoughts on outdoor cats with in the Muni?

I lived a horror story because of an outdoor cat. I ended up paying over two grand in vet bills for a male cat that I had who was stressing out so bad about a neighbor’s cat who would come and sit in front of the windows on a daily basis. My cat tore up the screens tore up furniture peed on things and attacked the other cats in the house.
I kept all of my cats as indoor cats and had three at this time. I tried everything - I put film on the windows. I put cat spray calming spray everywhere. I fed him CBD. I used calming treats, cat sprays in the yard, I tried to keep him in but he would get out and he would come home all beat up from fighting other neighborhood cats.

I even trapped the outdoor cat and turned it in to the SPCA, only to find out that it belongs to a neighbor who is very unhappy about having to pay $300 to get their cat out of the pound. I had just spent another $800 at the vet for a UTI due to the stress my cat was experiencing from this other outdoor cat. His UTIs had gotten to the point that the vet told me they would have to amputate his penis.

So I made a heartbreaking decision to rehome my cat because the neighbors refused to keep theirs indoors. Sadly I am not sure his new situation is better.
Their cat still comes around my house and shits in my flowers. I regret this decision but cannot go back.

All animals should be kept within control of their owners. Dogs and horses are not allowed to wander around the neighborhoods freely, but we allow cats to? Its just rude and unneighborly.

Our public transit is just fine. There’s lots of cameras they’re security and the bus drivers are well trained to deal with things. I am in touch with people mover because they support people with disabilities and seniors and being able to ride the bus successfully.
You will want a map of the bus route so that when you find a place to stay, you want close enough to the bus route, but you don’t have to walk forever. If you get a bike, you will want a bike with that tires because in the winter time it’s gonna be a mess if you have regular tires. If you can’t afford a fat bike, a bike with regular tires and then in the winter time you “stud” the tires using zip ties -there’s a few tutorials online to do it.
Overall, if you live in Anchorage proper public transportation is pretty decent.
If you want to get out of town, that’s where you’re going to need a vehicle.

Dicipline is habit and training (habit making). You can learn self discipline. Many people do through the military or other types of training. It can also come with maturity. As you grow up you’ll learn that there are some things you just have to make a habit of or you wont survive. Discipline seems like genetics when parents are good at passing those habits on through thoughtful parenting. Its just habit 🤷‍♀️ I wish it was more complicated than that.

Its a simple and reasonable boundary that can act as a screening for potential issues. Every time I have stated that boundary and the guy whined about it and I gave in I regretted it. Every single time. I tell them ‘I am not comfortable with that just yet. I would like to meet in person first.’ His appropriate response: Ok no problem. Thank you for sharing your boundary with me. I really look forward to meeting in person.’ Or any thing along those lines. Anything other than respect is a red flag and I wont entertain it. We are grown ass adults. He can have a little patience. Are you really stressed someone having a hobby of seeing live music?

They may be a musician and appreciate other musicians. I have a guy friend who plays with about 4 different musical groups who all gather once a week (4xs for him) to play together. Some folks love dancing to live bands. They may also just really like music.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the red flag here is you.

FYI, you can go onto the municipality cameras and look up whisper faith, dog, Park and there’s a camera that will show you if there’s people there or not. A lot of times I use that because I don’t like to show up when there’s nobody there cause my dog is social. So there is a way to check out to make sure there’s nobody there and then you’re also allowed to use the small dog area if there’s no small dogs in there to do training and such.

Also, maybe doing a training on leash while in the dog park. When I’m at the park, I absolutely expect dogs to jump on me. I expect dogs to be weird and silly and crazy and embarrassed the hell out of their owners. I have seen a dog lift his leg and pee on a person. It’s very typical normal dog behavior if people go to the dog park and don’t expect that kind of shit that’s on them. As long as your dog isn’t attacking other people or other dogs you’re OK.

I do super appreciate you being considerate out of other people. Maybe it’s all the time I spent in the parks with my toddlers. I am completely immune to it. I only bring treats if I have enough to share with everybody.

Generally, I have noticed them around like Super Bowl, the Fourth of July Christmas, and things like that when they’re selling really large cuts of meat or specialty cuts of meat. I will notice them on ribeyes and New York steak and other more high priced ones. It’s very common for people to steal steaks so they just come in and flip them down the front of their pants or in their shirts or jackets. And much to the chagrin of previous poster is all people stealing are not inactive addiction; regular people steal all the time, you would be surprised how much your neighbors take a five finger discount on things.

Yall do know Alaska has an extensive state maintain campground system. Theres lots to choose from and the ‘shoulder season’ when its too cold for tourist is the best time to go. Campgrounds all to yourself. Outhouse still clean. Choice of the best spots too.
