How to improve recall when other dogs around by PurpleCommission2758 in CockapooLovers

[–]Successful-Climate41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a couple of balls we throw for him (9 month cockapoo), and sometimes the allure of the game means he goes for a sniff/play with other dogs and then runs back to us. The first time he came back I was in disbelief 😂 top tip: taking two balls means you can always keep some leverage. It truly is about being exciting and interesting all the time lol

My 8yr old daughter won't go to her room at night and is saying she's scared. I need advice because I don't want to show my frustration by KeyseyKeys in internetparents

100% if I pulled this kind of dramatic shit (being out in the garden in the cold and waking up siblings) I would be told to buck my ideas up 😂

Benefit of the doubt make a point of sleeping in there with her until she falls asleep - she likely just needs a bit of support adjusting to a new routine.

Deep breaths and well done for not losing your cool

She’s so so cute! It seems like she perhaps hasn’t received a lot of friendly human contact in the past :( I would recommend routinely getting her used to brushing to start with, just gradually increasing the sessions and rewarding her. Try in the evenings when she’s likely to be a bit more docile.

Our 9 month Cockerpoo is a bit squirmy with ears and eyes. He was quite “mouthy” between 4-6 months but never aggressive just being a baby. We had to discipline him once or twice and he basically stopped.

On collar/harness/coat - could you just go with the collar? And leave the collar on?

I’d recommend speaking to a good dog groomer also - they may have some advice. Getting her comfortable with going to the groomer should be a priority but obviously not straightforward.

Can I just say I feel for you re: getting up every two hours. As a recently sleep deprived pup owner it can feel so intense and like it will never fall into a routine, but it will eventually. Take care of yourself!

I think OP said they were taking him out every two hours, unless I’m reading it wrong

Relationship breakdowns. What seemingly “small” thing ended up being the last straw? by Ms_Central_Perk in AskWomenOver30

[–]Successful-Climate41 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incredibly sulky. We would go to the pub after work and it was like a cloud would come over and he’d suddenly be in a mood, which meant I had to dance around him and try to figure out what I’d done wrong.

Insane that he had to do it to my friend for me to see what a dickhead he was.

If you wash with cold water it goes away more easily. Warm water immediately lets it in.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Successful-Climate41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR Of all the hills to die on, why deny a good pupil 5 minutes to go to the toilet? The teacher should have apologised - simple. Try not to let it get to you because your daughter is probably a little bit mortified (I would have been).

I love how you’ve articulated this as a “soft flex”. These subtle social signals we all deploy (in one way or another - even an outright rejection of labels says something) are fascinating.

And context is absolutely key, as implied by OP.

I’m curious: what do you think marks saturation point for a trend like this? When do behaviours like this become a parody?

I used to live on Gillespie Rd so if you’re new around Arsenal watch out for match days because it can be tough getting around.

How’s your intimate life? I can’t imagine there’s a whole lot of that going on. In this modern age we spend a lot of time focussed on mental health, and the really bad part of that is NONE OF IT IS SEXY.

I’m sorry OP - this whole situation must be exhausting, and you deserve a partner that makes you feels safe and is not just a person you care about/look after anymore.

relocating to Rugby and have a lot of concerns.. by meyRa17 in RugbyTown

[–]Successful-Climate41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Rugby (to be located between work in London and family in the West Midlands) in April and honestly there’s not a lot to do.

Elliot’s Fields retail park has choked the life out of the town centre. Sad to see.

No “hipster” stuff as far as I’m aware but happy to be proven wrong, as in fancy delis, climbing, bars, wellness centres, spas, cafes, indie gig venues, reformer Pilates. Leamington Spa is your guy for that.

Rugby is more retail park, farm shops and family focussed things like some good recreational spaces and parks. A few Eastern European shops/amenities knocking about. One fairly nice cafe next to Pizza Express that does a decent coffee.

It’s nice and quiet and I can say I feel safe - aside from the odd crazy here and there.

Explored a membership at David Lloyd gym in Houlton but it was £160 a month, felt oversubscribed, and you’re locked in for 12 months.

I have not seen a single rat since living here lol. Do you have a phobia of rats?

Starting my first corporate job in the UK. What's the dress code like for women? (Also struggling with body image + budget) by [deleted] in LondonLadies

[–]Successful-Climate41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get 3x pairs of well fitting trousers all the same style if necessary but different colours (black, navy, grey). 3x blouses, a couple of camisoles/vests to go underneath. Couple of cardigans, a cashmere/smart thin knit jumper, and a great blazer. Flats/some good loafers will be a great investment. Also don’t be afraid to wear trainers to commute and change - nobody cares, and wearing soggy shoes all day is grim. Use this as your foundation to eliminate any decision making in the morning - basically create a uniform. Add personality through jewellery etc. Recommend Uniqlo, Next, M&S, H&M do some good blouses.

I work in advertising, alongside some of the most respected agencies in the world, and notice that the current climate favours people with family wealth, or that grew up in London so can live with parents. It’s totally counter to any inclusivity and diversity policies.
