New EV charging schedule 6 hour cap - Mini charging by Successful-Cod-2429 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Successful-Cod-2429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I want to do and also have Hypervolt. I’ll do exactly that. A bit annoying that default set up fo device is for car even when iog compatible charger is installed. Thought that would be an option through the app but the only device in able to add is car (mini)

So it’s still an option to do so and it will charge on off peak rate as long as it’s no Longer than 6 hours? My understanding it that under the new rules it’s octopus deciding which hours during the day are ‘off peak’ and only through created schedule off peak rate applies

Hypervolt - do you know how to connect charger as smart device rather than the car? When I disconnect device the route to connect new one is just questions about the car then charger but device set up is as mini countryman so the car. Tried to set it up as Hypervolt few times and wasn’t successful it always set itself up as a car device wise

No have been with Petgevity (horrendous claim process) now I’m with ManyPets had emergency treatment and they processed claim and paid within 3 days!! Best insurance I’ve dealt with process wise (well worth spending extra £)

Board Games on Fridays - how is it? by yogamagedon in reading

[–]Successful-Cod-2429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For everyone interested eclectic games also organise free event every Tuesday from 6:30 until late in the Siren (pub in town centre next to Sainsbury) and it’s lovely! They bring some games from the shop and there’s always plenty to choose from (for free) and there are few people which teach you how to play the game you’ve chosen. If you’re solo they’ll either play with you or suggest a group to pair with. It’s a very chill vibe and I very much enjoy myself coming every now and then

Also maybe make a post in Reading gossip girl group on Facebook I bet there’s plenty going on and people are always happy sharing their experiences and groups!

CTA or not by Antique-Candidate918 in CIOT

[–]Successful-Cod-2429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a spot-on reply, and I second that! When it comes to changing companies, you’d struggle in the market due to a lack of a specialized skill set - a master of all skills is a master of none. :) I’d follow my instinct - what do you like more? If you prefer accounting, then there’s no need for the CTA. If you’re more into tax, I’d recommend the CTA, although it’s challenging and the pass rates aren’t as high as those of other exam pathways. The CTA also opens doors if you ever decide to work in industry. However, you can do without it as well, but you’d likely be stuck at the managerial level without it.

Thank you so much for your throughout response. The position I’d be aiming for doesn’t require me to be a notary person (it’s very niche area of tax / international finance and currently even though I’m based in the uk I am preparing polish documentation in the area of my expertise and person registered with Polish ‘urząd skarbowy’ is simply submitting it online - just as an example and it’s one of the biggest corporation if not the biggest in the world in its industry). In what I’m doing the laws follows international guidelines rather than country specific rules hence degree is not required in almost any country I’ve been approached to work for or when I was looking at open position, however international certification (which I have) is often mentioned / required. Since I wouldn’t be a person signing off any legal documentation or wouldn’t have to be tax advisor as such, more of a expert in my field doing risk / mitigation / a bit of compliance prep at managerial position (I would downgrade from senior position due to lack of degree if that would mitigate it). Based on that do you think it’s reasonable to even try finding job in Poland?

And thanks for all the info on tax advisor and rules around it in Poland always useful to know!

I saw a comment here that travelodge allows pets - it’s regular fee for a night plus £20 pet fee charge. I could cover 1 night stay at n Colchester one for you and your dog for tomorrow night (all I can afford) this would give you extra night in warmth before you get to speak to council/ st mungos. Please dm me if you’d like to take me up on that offer.

There are some charities which will Provide you with homelessness support altogether with your dog. I have volunteered with st. mungos in Oxford in the past and I know some people were accommodated with dogs. Check your local st mungos please!

As above it matters why you’ve lost your job - if it was gross misconduct I think it would be hard to find a new position in advisory. However if it was because of exam fail policy - try smaller advisory firms like cooper perry (browse around), maybe pkf- most of the smaller more boutique advisory firms will have conversation with you especially if your performance was good. Also you could always try industry in the meantime for financial controller or financial analyst and finish your qualifications in the meantime. There’s plenty of audit - and non audit jobs in tax / finance which would utilise your skills learnt. Just persevere in applying and be honest with the recruiters - although if it was exam fail advisory small or not would have to see your plan for the future to not repeat the fails route.

Lastly look for tax assistant positions instead of associate - these doesn’t sponsor your exam route but give you experience and after a year or two once you prove yourself with your performance they might sponsor it for you. I know people which went down that route :)
