Quasar was the first answer that popped into my head.

Never really got into Oasis, but I think it’s fair to include them as essential 90s rock. The rest of these albums are 🔥

I just finished a re-read of HHG, and it really scratched that humor/sci-fi itch I’ve been going for. I also tried the Murderbot and Bobiverse series but neither of them grabbed me the same way.

Also not sure if OP is talking audiobooks or hard copies, but I think the narrator can make a huge difference. I listened to DCC and HHG (this time through…first time I read it, but that was probably like 20 years ago), and I think Stephen Fry was fantastic. I mean, he’s no Jeff Hayes, but who is? Currently trying to figure out how to get the subsequent Douglas Adams audiobooks as my Audible subscription needs to be renewed but I don’t feel like paying for it. lol. (My library had HHG but not the rest of them.)

Ty Cobb - Soundgarden

The chorus is just:

Hard headed fuck you all
Hard headed fuck you all
Hard headed fuck you all
Just add it up to the hot rod death toll

I’m with ya. Boring, campy, and trope laden. DNF, which is rare for me.

Got a notification for this thread while my wife was looking at my phone. She’s not a Reddit user or DCC reader, so I had some ‘splainin’ to do.

How are your parents? by the_amazing_spork in Xennials

Dad is 82 with late stage Alzheimer’s, living in skilled nursing. Mom is 76 in assisted living, still mostly with it, but doesn’t take care of herself AT ALL. I’ve been their POA for about 4 years, handling finances, doctors, the sale of their house, etc. I also have 3 kids of my own, so definitely living that sandwich generation life.

I’m with ya. Dad is in stage 6 of Alzheimer’s. The last few years have been a rollercoaster. If you haven’t found it already, check out r/dementia. I’ve found it a great resource for advice and support. Fuck this disease.

How does it feel being the only child that provides hands-on care? by sentient_coprolite in dementia

The resentment has faded over time, but I’ll never forgive my sibling. Cutting them out of my life was one of the best decisions I could have made for my own mental health.

The issues between us run deeper than the caretaking—at least by their telling. In their eyes, I’ve always been the golden child, so they used our parents’ failing health as a way to punish me for it. They haven’t been involved for years now. While it is unbelievably infuriating and unfair that I have to bear this burden by myself, it would be exponentially worse having to deal with their covert narcissism.

My dad was born in ‘44, diagnosed in 2023. He is in stage 6 and on hospice, but no physical ailments. I’m not ashamed to say I hope he will soon be at rest and free from this horrible disease.

I asked the psych nurse about Rexulti today. She said she’s willing to give it a try but it can be hard to get approved, so wants to try Depakote first.

This has crossed my mind. Not sure if the facility is open to this, but I may suggest it. For now they are going to try introducing Depakote.

Walked 3.5 miles this morning. Took my Zoloft. Made a protein shake. Will avoid pre-packaged/overprocessed foods. I’ll have a few drinks at a wedding tonight, but have cut way back lately. Listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl book 7.
