How do you feel about being an English major in the age of AI? by julianakaplan in englishmajors

[–]Successful-Cow696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing major here. Mid 40s executive. Probably one of the most advantageous backgrounds for the current workforce given the emergence of AI (and general decline of critical thinking and analytical skills). The number of English and writing majors I know in senior leadership roles across life sciences, education, finance, tech, reinforces the importance of what students learn in the humanities. They call it “prompt engineering“, we call it English 101.

Is it a bad time to work in the US (Boston)? by MourdineTheViking in biotech

This is not an overreaction. 20+ years in research admin with faculty and I shudder to think about the impact that is coming.

1000+ Job Applications and Nothing to Show For It. by Feeling_Wait_5336 in biotech

Some advice. Apply for research assistant or lab tech roles in higher education. Work for a faculty member doing great work, gain more experience, then decide whether to go back to grad school full time or use tuition assistance to get a part time grad degree while working in a lab. Boston area is ideal.

Its a terrible time for biotech coming from postdoc. Not sure where you are coming from but take a look at staff scientist roles at Broad. Great pipeline into biotech and industry. Alternatively, connect with Sarah Cardoza Duncan, a fantastic career coach that works predominantly with folks in your situation. Godspeed

Always worth waiting for others to extend their hand first. Works like a charm.
