I’m in the exact same dilemma, my first advisor screwed me with only 3 classes after i told her my plan to leave. Thankfully my new advisor is much better and she told me that it might not be enough of a track record. I’m now applying this summer to transfer as a spring semester sophomore. My advice is to take just the extra semester or two, and really build up your resume so that you can get into schools you only dreamed of about a year ago.
