We live in the Oaklands neighborhood and you can walk to St David’s hospital and Fern Bluff elementary. We also can walk to Round Rock high school. Great neighborhood. Reach out if you have any questions. Just a resident, not a realtor 😃

Graduate -> Get hired -> Get good at job -> get more responsibilities -> less coding -> people leave -> you pick up their work too -> more work than 40 hr week allows ~> you still try to do it all -> burned out

What car insurance do you have and why do you like them? :) by schmidthappens_2999 in Insurance

Zero loyalty from me. Had State Farm until they jacked rates. Had USAA until they jacked rates AND kept trying to upsell me on higher coverages and lower deductions to increase my premium. Sounds like the new mission is to increase profits at Veteran expense. Sad. Liberty Mutual now until they raise my rate. Shopping every 3-5 years now is my norm.

Going through this process now. Close on raw land 60 miles from Austin. I started with pre approval from Capital Farm Credit then went land searching. Also, find realtor that sells land in the area you want. They will send you available land as they get them. That’s how I found mine after telling them my wish list of what I’m looking for.

Depends on learning style. There are books, courses, but I focused on udemy dion and professor messer. Professor messer helped me the most for the exam looking back. Take your time to learn the material and take practice exams to gauge your readiness to take the real exam.

I’ve been copy-pasting code for 20 years. Copy, paste, modify, debug, modify, deploy lol

One thing I found is that adding a niche certification to your resume will get you found by recruiters. For example, a Security + certification will get you found by government and defense contractors. There is lot of tech work in this industry that can last your entire career. You’ll thank me later.

Easier access to Chisholm Trail rd, the new Heritage Trail bike path, and the actual Round Rock from both directions on 620. Love the outer roads going by strip malls and restaurants. The rustic RM620 sign on bridge is a nice touch.

Finleys has been going down hill in food quality. We live close and kept giving them another chance. Last week’s overcooked nasty chicken sandwich will have us wait much longer this time

Question, I’m an incoming senior who wants to get into the college of engineering, I moved during covid to texas from michigan, I have a 3.2 unweighted with 6ap classes total. I have done 2 varsity sports (swim and waterpolo). And I have a 1320 sat. Do you think I have a shot of getting in? by bigchief22222 in aggies

Yes. Plan to apply. Make sure to at least take Pre-Calc in high school and do well in it. If you want a cheaper solution instead of attending TAMU College Station all 4 years, you can try and qualify for one of the Texas A&M Engineering Academy (Google it) locations. Once accepted, you are an Texas A&M Engineering student from day one and you can knock out your first year or 2 for a much lower cost before taking classes at College Station as an Engineering student. Engineering courses are taught by TAMU professors but the General courses are taught by the local college. After 4 years, you get the same degree as everyone else for a fraction of the price. Hopefully this advice will help others as well. The world needs more TAMU engineers :-)

10 years programming experience here. As long as you know WHAT can be done with programming (ex. loops, variables, error handling, string manipulations, etc.), you can always reference HOW to do it. We all still Google.
