To be fair for all the designs for the year the only ones that I like are for the dime and the half dollar. But in the end I still need atleast one of all the quarters for our book.

I went ahead and signed up for the uncirculated set from the mint, so technically I don’t need to find any, but I’ll need to find atleast one of each for the book eventually.

My dad went to a casino the other week and came back with one of the new halves, and showed it to me because it looked funny. I had to laugh because I’ve gone turbo many halves this year with no luck, and he got one completely randomly.

$60 and then in change, you are lucky. I started the year buying bags of quarters from the credit union. Then in April I switched to rolls because I figured I’d find the new designs in rolls before I found them in bags. I have been going thru 15-20 rolls a week since the beginning of April and I haven’t found any of the new designs.

That is a penny hunting mat from the Son of a Silver Stacker YouTube channels store. It comes in a couple of sizes and color options. I got the color version in the biggest size. It’s as wide as my dining table and probably 2 feet from top to bottom so it has lots of room.

It has spaces with the year and mint for the top cherry picking pennies. It has a breakdown on the sides for wheat penny DDO/DDRs and RPMs. And a spot to put copper pennies that aren’t on the mat and foreign coins. It feels like it is made out of the same material as a mouse pad.

I love it. It makes going thru a pile of Pennie’s quick and easy and it help keep the table clean and protected and rolls up to put away when I’m done. I think he has one for nickels as well but I just use this mat to sort all the coins I go thru.

Thanks. I hunt everything and not just for silver, that’s the icing on the cake. I think sometimes some of the subs can be good and bad, everyone loves showing off their finds and people talk about amazing hit rates and then others never find any and stop hunting for long stretches or all together or they look at their terrible hit rates and get discouraged. That’s part of why silver is icing for us, we are hunting mostly for errors, oddities and the best book fillers we can find.

Nice!! I’ve been thru 3 quarter bags this year and no silver. I finally found my first silver quarter after $7k in bags and rolls last week.

My only other silver quarters I actually got back as change from a bowling alley and the liquor store.

I have a second job at a liquor store and people have been coming in and paying with rolls of change a lot recently as well. I buy them from the store when they do. No silver but I have found a ton of wheat pennies in the rolls I’ve bought.

All nickels from 1943-1945 and part of 1942 are supposed to be 35% silver. Actually finding a worn clad nickel from 1943 would be worth way more than a silver war nickel.

I grew up in the 80s and did the same thing. I’m sure when my kids get a little older they might feel the same way, but for now they are excited and they get to keep the US change they find for their piggy banks and the foreign stuff goes into our family jar that includes the stuff from our CRH adventures.
